Bring water with you when you go for a driving trip. The roads are long, you will probably turn on the air conditioner, and your body will lose moisture. When you drive to the Keys from Fort Lauderdale, a trip of 4 hours, remember to drink water along the way. The photo shows the old railway bridge that was destroyed in the 1930s by a big hurricane. It makes a great platform for fishing and a place for birds to wait on while they look for fish.

Though a very built up town, there is still an abundance of wildlife. You often see dolphins swimming in the ocean close to shore, and on my morning walks there is a constant serenade of parrots. Here’s another common sight, a pelican, right on my trail.
Airport Shuttle to Port Everglades
by cjg1
The airport has a shuttle that takes passengers to Port Everglades. The shutles look like regular city buses from the outside but the interior space has luggage racks. The shuttle is a quick and easy way to get from the airport to the Port.
We hoped on the shuttle after returning our rental car at the airport. The ride was a quick five minutes and dropped us off right at the Port Terminal.
The shuttles also picks up passengers from the port and returns them to the airport. We utilized this service on the way back to the airport to pick up a rental car.
A chain family restaurant
by GUYON about Denny's
Yes we like Denny's.
The service, the open hours (we awake up very early on the morning because of the time lag), the food (simple) and the prices.
It is not the gastronomy but I was often deceived by restaurants which advertise about their gastromony (the prices are rather "astronomy"). The habitual food.
Jungle Queen
by joanj
Go for a leisurely ride on the Jungle Queen, a paddle steamer that takes you up the canal past luxurious houses, famous people live along this stretch of water, and at night, some of them put on all the lights, open their doors, and you can see the opulance inside.
It stops at an island where great long tressle tables are laid out and you are served with the most delicious food. The Ribs, were truly finger lickin'. There is also some entertainment laid on.
Then it is a leisurely ride back to the mooring.
I do hope this has not changed since I was last there, if indeed it has, would you VT'ers please let me know and I will delete the information if incorrect.
