there is a SHARED van service called GO shuttle with a fare of about twenty dollars pp plus tip. they have the concession at fl airport and usually have a rep outside of each baggage claim area. try google to get to their site and reserve.

Drive around through the suburbs and enjoy the way people live here (even if you know that you'll never be one of them (-: It is just a pleasure to look at the many kinds of boats and dream of a trip in them. Fort Lauderdale is friendly and the people here are quiet open and happy. You notice it in the malls or in an average restaurant, bar or café. A complete difference with the atmosphere in West Palm beach, but the minimum speedlimit there should have already told me enough. As if they wanted to say 'move on, go away, this is our property.' Well, 'fondest' I wouldn't say, but unforgetable 'yes'. In a 'subway'-sandwich-bar I ordered a few subs. One of them was my chicken-sandwich and when the man behind the counter started calling out the ready subs and came to mine I answered loudly in a crowded place: 'Yes, here, I am the chicken!' Immediately I realised what I just said in plane American and with all the strange faces pointed at me ... well, I could sink deep into the swamp of the Everglades (-;
BIKING

Jason and I both love to bike. There are more than enough places in Ft. Lauderdale to hop on your bike and go for a mile or more. Jason can be found a few times a year riding his bike for any number of charities. He did a hundred mile ride one time. He was so sore after that he got a deep tissue massage. irish pub

briney's irish pub is located in the riverwalk area of downtown fort lauderdale. the building and the decor is more of a florida style beach bar than a replica irish pub. this large bar gets a mixture of locals and tourists. i think there are better replica irish pubs in the area but briney's is still a fun place to a have a drink at the riverwalk. casual.

We went to Shula's the first night we got to Fort Lauderdale and still a bit jet lagged and starving we ordered 2 steaks, mashed potato,broccoli and 2 beers and it came to $100. It was a very nice meal but I never spent that much on food again while in Florida.

HARRISONS WINE BAR is open in Hollywood. It is a first lounge bar in here.
It was voted the best bar 2003 by New Times.
Very nice and calming atmosphere with blue leather seatings, and finishing with a cherry wod.
They also have a patio 1500 SF with a fire place. Over 100 wines, many by the glass Champaigne, port, imported beers.
