visiting friends in fort lauderdale and like to try out a cruise
by louiseks
L.S.
I will be visiting friends in Deerfield Beach in November and I would like to take the opportunity to try a cruise. I always wanted to do a cruise. But not sure if it is really for me. I am 56 single woman, traveling alone.
Is it possible to take a cruise last minute or should I make arrangements well in advance. And how do you know if the ship is fully booked?
I am thinking about a trip in the East Carribean.
Any advice?.

I have cruised as a single woman. You always meet people. I have always had a good time.
You could try looking into the Norwegian Epic. I have heard that there are designated single cabins and a singles only lounge.
Cruise critic is a good website to research cruises.
Vacations to go (www.vacationstogo.com)offers cruises for singles . There is probably a cruise that leaves every month. You would be a single but you would be a part of a larger group. This could be a good option for your first cruise. There is a cruise that leaves Fort Lauderdale Oct 30th on the Crown Princess. It is a hosted single cruise for single 40 and over.

Hi,
I do not understand your answer?. What do you mean with duplicate forum.
Sorry

OK, I get it now. It means that you posted your query twice. My answer to your questions posted in the other forum that you posted. I did not see the need to also post it twice. Does this explain it...?
Travel Tips for Fort Lauderdale
Art (?)on the ICW
by grandmaR
For a sailboat, the ICW in Fort Lauderdale is a nightmare of low bridges with insane schedules and killer currents sweeping you inexorably into the bridge which will not open for another 10 minutes to an hour, and crazed power boaters skittering around making irresponsible wakes. You can see everything from a topless young girl making love with her boyfriend (or presumably he is a friend) to sumptuous boats moored in front of houses on the canals. (Although for really expensive boats and houses, Lake Worth makes better viewing).
This statue of a third finger salute is on the ICW at the property of the owner of "Screw" magazine.
I took the picture before I knew who it belonged to - I just couldn't believe it when I saw it. It's a little off center because it took me a couple of seconds to get the camera out. Someone else's picture of it is at:

Packing List

Bathing suit is essential for swimming in the warm aqua waters where you can swim close to dolphins if you are lucky. Casual but smart attire for dining and partying, something you'll find Ft. Lauderdale excells at. Sunscreen for those coming from up north, the hot South Florida rays can cook you. How many rich people can they pack on the waterfront of the Intracoastal.
Seminole Hard Rock Restaurant and Casino
by goingsolo about Seminole Hard Rock Restaurant and Casino
This place opened in May, 2004 amidst much local fanfare, rumored to be a casino which resembled Vegas. The brand new Hard Rock hotel is beautiful and there is a casino, but its not Vegas. Not quite yet and most likely not ever.
At the present time, the casino has $5 maximum bet poker and regular slots only. We were told that they will be expanding to become a full-service casino at a future but undetermined time.
For now, this is a good place for locals and tourists to get a bit of a Vegas fix. Its a bit out of the way, but the facilities are brand new and impressive. In keeping with the Vegas style, there's a all you can eat buffet, a nightclub and even a spa. No neon lights though. Vegas casual. We saw the same mix of dress code that you would in any Vegas casino, with the only exception that no one was really dressed up. This is S. Fla so people will wear shorts whenever they can.

This is somewhat of a health conscious place in that they remove the fat. You don't have to count your calories or anything. Portions are somewhat generous so ask before you order how much you are getting.
The bench that you sit at actually is a swing and you overlook the beach as you eat. This is what makes it.

Questions and Answers
Q: A very specific question about Fort Lauderdale Airport "Hello, I have an unusual question (most people ask the reverse sort of question), so please read carefully before responding.
I..."
A: "Oops, you probably figured this out, by "Terminal 2" in my last paragraph is a misprint. It should say "...down from Level 2..." there. Thanks."
