More about Courtyard by Marriott Fort Lauderdale Beach
Great location! Newly Renovated!
We stayed at this hotel for two nights on a business/ pleasure trip! We got a great deal through Priceline. The location on the beach is fantastic! It is towards the end of the main strip of beach. This makes for a less crowded and quieter beach front.
As many have mentioned...the hotel has been recently renovated. It is nicely decorated, new and clean. The rooms aren't huge, but they are comfortable. The floors are designed with the rooms away from the elevators. We were in a corner room on the back of the hotel. The floor to ceiling windows gave us a view of the marina off the back and the beach on the side.
The bathrooms are clean and they stock the typical Portico bath products. The towels were well stocked. They have nice beach towels by the pool for the beach.
The beds were very comfortable with nice linens. The free wireless and high speed both worked. However, the wireless was very slow and I ended up not being able to use it. They also offer the high speed for free.
You have to use the valet parking. There is a parking lot next to the hotel, but it has limited hours. The valet guys were very nice and speedy.
On the back side of the hotel there is a 7-11 about a 1/2 block away. Also, a block and a 1/2 away is the The Quarter Deck restaurant. It is a great place to eat and watch a game.
The pool area is small and the outdoor bar overlooks it. They do have comfortable beachbeds for two with coverings. You are right on the beach...so I don't think you really need to use the pool anyway. There is no jacuzzi. Just inside the pool area is their restaurant and bar. They also have a big screen TV and living room area that is nice. The gym is also off the pool. It is decent size with good equipment. They have live music (some good...some questionable :) ) in the outdoor bar area. It is a nice place for a drink.
They are strict on using your Marriott number when booking through Priceline. You won't get points or any of your amenities if you book through Priceline.
The hotel is in a great location, it is new and clean and has great views. We would stay there again for sure!
Decent place, great location
We used points fo our stay and got upgraded to a beach view. It was at a great location - 7-11 nearby, Elbo Room right down the street and convenient to Las Olas. However, the cleanliness left something to be desired. I used to live in Ft Lauderdale, so I knew service isn't always the best, but after tipping room service $10 to do a good job and leave extra towels behind, she did a horrible job - not throwing out our coffee cups, dropping an empty water bottle on the floor and not picking it up, not leaving behind the extra towels and after replacing our previous towels replaced them with a stained and both smelly towels.
You can't beat location, but it's a shame because Marriott's are normally more enjoyable and better than this Courtyard.
Good LOcation-Fun Hotel
Great Location-ocean views from room. The room was updated and clean. Two flatscreen TV's in the king room. There is a 7-11 across the street, great place to pick up snacks, beer, water, etc. Shopping and dining are within walking distance. The pool area is fun, but the food/drinks are pricy. We just brought our cooler up with us. The pool is in shade and water is cold. Better to just swim across street at beach. Loved the pool deck area-- it was relaxing. There was a nice happy hr with bands.
Disliked the Valet parking. $26+ tip.
Area tips: go to Elbow room, snorkeling trip with ProDive, sunset Cruise with Tropical Sailing, great Greek take out at nearby strip mall, cocunuts across the steet, and Bubba Gumps
Very good hotel in an excellent location
Stayed here for 1 day post cruise. The location is very convenient for flying out of Ft Lauderdale airport and is a short walk to all the bars and restaurants along the beach. Stayed in room 605B which faces the terrace and beach. I was worried about the noise on a Friday night, but it was minimal.
The gym is pretty small with no weight training machines, only dumbells. They have a business center with free internet access, which is nice for confirming flights.
Beware of the parking charge!
We just got back from staying at this hotel for 8 days, and we definately had some problems. First of all, our room was not ready when we arrived so we were given a handicap room for a night and had to move the next day. They said they didn't have any other room available. Very inconvenient! The next day we were given a beautiful room on the 12 floor in the corner with floor to celing windows on 2 sides. But the shower leaked so there was 1/8" of water on the bathroom floor after every shower. We didn't tell the management because we didn't want to move again. The cleaning staff must have seen all the wet towels on the floor but ignored them. The elevators were slow and didn't work at times. But the worse part of the hotel is that they are valet parking only. They charged $25 to park overnight and did not give us any options. Afterword I found out I could have parked next door for $5.00 per night. When I asked the front desk about it they stated that "it wasn't a secure lot" . They never gave us this option. I asked if they could reduce the charge since they did not give us this option, but they refused. I am also irriated that Travelocity did not mention this when I booked the trip. I'll never use them again!
This hotel had a good location as it was across from a large stretch of public beach and was within walking distance of beachfront dining. The rooms were very nice, clean and newly renovated. Our King Suite had two 32" LCD televisions, which was a nice touch. The rooms were tastefully decorated and were quite comfortable. The food here was above average for a hotel, and had better taste and presentation than the other places we dined at along the beach. Do order the french toast for breakfast, you will not be disappointed. The only real downside of this property was the lack of a heated pool and hottub.
Great Hotel on Beach
Great hotel, across the street from the beach, close to cruise port. Marriott took this over from Doubletree and really spruced it up. Decor is warm and inviting, beds were pillow-toped and sooo comfortable. Pool area is secluded from street and has wonderful covered cabanas, and a pool bar (prices were a little high). Free internet near the lobby, big flat screened TVs in the rooms. We didn't use the restaurant, but it looked very nice, though once again prices were a little high. There were lots of small restaurants along the beach, easy to walk to. Would stay here again when in Ft Lauderdale.
I'm actually posting this for my parents, who stayed there along with another couple for a pre-cruise stay in Fort Lauderdale. The night they checked in, my Mom left her purse somewhere. The next morning, she couldn't find it anywhere - no idea where she left it. At the hotel? On the Trolley? As you can imagine, this was not how she wanted to start her cruise.
Turns out she left it at the hotel, in the lobby or something. After my folks boarded the ship, the hotel found the purse and managed to get it to them on the ship, before they left! Everything was intact. Mom was of course thrilled to get her purse back and greatly appreciated the extra effort (they could have simply let her come back after the cruise to pick up the purse). So it seems this hotel knows something about superior service.
Otherwise, Mom said the hotel was beautiful - rooms were great. Purse aside, they greatly enjoyed their stay.
A place like this is all you need on FLL beach
Just got back from five nights at this hotel. We paid $89/night via Priceline.com and that included taxes/fees. We were upgraded to an 8th Floor direct oceanfront room by taking two queens. Perfect view, too bad the hotel has no balconies.
Hotel is clean, smells good and housekeeping did a great job for us. If you have a car, do not park at this hotel if its not company paid. There is a lot just before the entrance to the hotel that is more than safe. It costs $6/day. The new day turns over at 7 a.m. so you have to get up and pay up but it is worth it. There are no in/out priveleges but big deal. Some days we got up at 7 and went out all day, some days we went in/out and paid $12 and weekend days we went out and had to pay $15 when we came back because it was a Saturday, so we paid $21 total. Still beats $26/day. They do check the money box each morning and if you get them at the right time on weekends they'll let you pay in advance for the next day so you don't have to get up. We did this for Sunday. Weekends they make you put stubs on the winshield, so they just write on it that you are paid up an extra day at the standard $6 rate. For the five days I think we spend under $65 on parking there. The hotel rate would have been $130.
The food was fine, just standard hotel quality. Happy Hour 1/2 price appetiezers were good. Bubba Gump Shrimp is affliated with the hotel to the extent that you can charge your bill to your room. They also do take out. Place was great.
Free hotel coffee sucks and some days it is not there. No matter - 7-Eleven across the street has great coffee. It is always going in the morning and always fresh. It is a popular stop for all the fishing crews and their customers to load up before they head out. The store brews 3-4 different types. I'd guess 12-14 pots going at once sometimes. I really don't recall that much detail. $1.48 for a 16 oz.
The gym has all new equipment. A full rack of dumbells, ab ball, cardio machines and a wall to wall mirror. Free internet and free business center.
If you are paying top dollar and have super service expectations you'd better lower them however ... remember it is a 2.5 star hotel ... when you need a manager for a very serious issue and no one can find him, he may just be in the bar trying to pick up two women wrapped in towels - and he may try to make up some "shift change" excuse was to why he was unavailable. HA what a joke.
Pool is small but the pool area is great. The hotel is in a great location. You can stumble home from the Elbo Room in a matter of minutes.
We've been to FLL quite a bit. We've stayed at a number of hotels down there. If I was not breaking the bank for the St. Regis, Atlanta, Marriott Harbor Beach or Hilton ... I'd stay here over the other places each and every time.
Watch out for the timeshare sharks who double as the concierge. They are a pain in the [---]. I avoided them but they tried to get me the first few times I passed through the lobby. They did thier job but still its annoying.
