Lots of relatively inexpensive hotels on Ft. Lauderdale's beach espcecially if you come off season, but this little guy found a home in one of the state parks just across from the beach.

This is not a hotel or a resort. The photos are nothing like the facility. The rooms were never clean and the tub was rusty. The towels were small and the pool was small and not well kept. There is no frills and we were charged a higher rate than we were promised. the motel is not close to any shopping or restaurants, you will have to take a taxi or a bus. It is not centrally located.
I found this charming hotel on the internet. What a wonderful location, walking distance to the quaint Lauderdale by the sea shops and restaurants maybe less than 1 mile.
I preferred the quieter hotel near the restaurant than the beachside hotel near the pool and bar.
The welcome drink token was very nice, especially after travelling you need a nice cold cocktail.
I am returning again this spring and I hope to experience the excursion they offer.

We stayed at the GOLD COAST HOTEL, which is very conveniently located just across from the beach on Fort Lauderdale Beach Boulevard. Typically, most of this hotel's guests are from Western Europe and Scandinavia. Package deals are available, which include a Sea Breeze dinner cruise...
The location is excellent, with easy access to shopping, dining, and night spots, all within walking distance. The ocean view is magnificent, and the staff is friendly and very helpful.
My family and friends stay there as often as possible. My daughter owns 2 weeks there, and I own 1.
The recent renovations are making this "Grand Ol' Gal" in to a youngster again, with all new, state of the art elevators, a facelift in the lobby as well as a new exterior paint job. The new patio doors and windows arrived just in time for the terrible hurricane season last year, so very little damage was done. The guest rooms are just beginning to be refurbished from top to bottom, and a prototype is already on display.
All of this has happened since the Board of Directors changed management companies.
I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, and i agree with the people who think the hotel is good. Obvioulsy it is not a deluxe, posh place, but oyu have to consider what you are paying for. This was the second cheapest package that I could have chose when I booked on expedia.
The room was very clean. It had brand new ceramic floors which were nice and clean. The paint in some places on the walls could have been updated though. The shower is great, lots of hot water, and amazing water pressure.
There are condos all across the street, but it is like that for miles up the beach. This hotel is great though because there is public beach access ripretty much right across the street. You just walk north on AIA, up to palm ave and enter there.
If you want to travel around and have no car, walk north up to Lauderdale by the seas Visitors centre. Lots of info here, and you can buy an unlimited buss pass.......$9 for 7 days, $2.50 for one day, $8 for 10 rides. Get the pass and ride the bus around to get to further places. The number 11 bus is right outside the hotel......ride it 10 minutes and you can get down to Las Olas Beach, and a little further to downtown Las Olas Blvd, and Riverfront. All good places to see.
Up the street from the hotel there is a Denny's, Burger King, Walgreens, and other restraunts and shops. Ride the bus up to Lauderdale by the seas for great shops and food.
The beach near the hotel is very quiet, and not many peple so it is great for relaxing......some of the pther beach areas are busy.
Anyways........if u want a cheap, decent hotel, try this one out.
Mike & I went to Hugh Taylor Birch State Park which is located on East Sunrise Blvd. in Fort Lauderdale, off A1A.
I frequented Ft Lauderdale beach during the early 1980's when I lived in Pompano Beach Florida.

Q: A very specific question about Fort Lauderdale Airport "Hello, I have an unusual question (most people ask the reverse sort of question), so please read carefully before responding. I..."
A: "Oops, you probably figured this out, by "Terminal 2" in my last paragraph is a misprint. It should say "...down from Level 2..." there. Thanks."
