Looking for Something to do In Ft. L. for Family 1 Night

by graniteswirlgirl

My family is arriving in Ft. Lauderdale a day early before our cruise and I was looking for something for us to do in the vicinity of the Port after dark. Family oriented.

The port of Ft. lauderdale doesnt have many family oriented options after dark. You could check out the IMAX theater at the Musuem of Science and Discovery in Las Olas. On the beach, there is Beachfront which has restaurants and live music most nights. I would suggest taking a cab to Sawgrass Mills Mall. In the Oasis in a Dave and Busters, Movie theater, fun family places to eat. www.greatports.com lists alot of the sightseeing options in the area

Travel Tips for Fort Lauderdale

If You Can't Feed Yourself.....

by cjg1

If you can't feed yourself...there is always a friendly waiter ready to assist. Our friend Angie was fed some ice cream by our waiter Eduardo...... I think he definitely enjoyed doing it. We all had a good laugh watching this at the table.

A nightclub with good live acts/shows

by sunlovey about Revolution

What is now called Revolution, used to be The Chili Pepper and before that The Edge, I've kind of grown up going here...
Today- as Revolution, the interior is dark and red with old, cool concert and band posters plastered on the walls. I haven't gone here when it serves as a nightclub, only for shows, but there are two floors and I think, two bars, as well as a lower area that used to serve as the dance floor, maybe it still does.

As for concerts/shows... they're generally held on the outside patio area. There is a bar outside as well as a balcony that overlooks the stage.

They book acts like Keane, UB40 and Bloc Party. Check their ticketmaster Web site for show listings. Depends upon the ocassion, once again, jeans are a safe bet. Summer concerts can get HOT though on the patio...

By plane! I took Air Canada...

by hayward68

By plane! I took Air Canada direct from Toronto the first visit. I prefer it to the charter companies which I used other visits. I had a bit more leg room and you can bring a bigger carry-on with you. Though it surprises me how big some of the bags are that people get away with.

One of the best ways to see southern Florida is to hire a car. I got mine from Budget rentals and was able to get out of the city to the Everglades and up to Butterfly world. Also good if you are staying at a place with your own kitchen and want to stock up on groceries.

Great slice: Open 24 hours

by SpaceCoastMomma about Primanti Brothers Pizza & Grill

Excellent pizza pie done right...hand-tossed with just the right amount of sauce and fresh ingredients. This place is open 24 hours, 7 days a week. There is always a line of customers out the door and the tables are always full with customers. A great place to people-watch or, if you're tired or feeling less enclined to socialize, order a great pie for takeout. This place is great! Pizza pie to perfection. Hand-tossed with a perfect crust.

The Beach

by hayward68

You have to go to the beach in Fort Lauderdale. And there’s so much of it to choose from. Pick a spot and plant yourself for the afternoon with a good book and some beer, just hide it from the lifeguard ;) Or just walk for hours like I did admiring the scenery.
