Fort Lauderdale es un lugar...
by fga
Butterflies!
by TravelJunkie
This place is pretty cool. The Tropical Rain Forest is amazing. The butterflies are everywhere and are so used to people in their environment that they will land on you as you walk around. There is also a hummingbird aviary as well as many gardens and pond with plants and habitats native to Florida.
My neice couldn't get enough of this place. She loved being able to touch the butterfies. There is also an area for lorikeets, which are similar to parakeets. The bug display is not too great, but Butterfly World is not about the bugs, after all.
There is a snack bar with shaded seating by the pond as well as clean restrooms and a gift shop.
Butterfly World is located in Tradewinds Park on Sample Road, just off of I-95.
Dancing to the 80's
by cjg1 about Skywalkers Nightclub (Emerald Princess)
Skywalker's Nightclub is located on the top of the ship with incredible views. The Nightclub is smoking which doesn't thrill me but we came here so Liz and her friends could dance to some 80's music while John and I had some drinks.
An Ice Cream lover's heaven
by LeananSidhe about Jackson's
This Ice Cream parlor, with it's wacky interior, has been around since 1956. It hasn't moved since the day it opened. Everything there is homemade and nothing short of amazing. A scoop of ice cream is about $2, but weighs in at about a half pound. But don't bother with just a scoop... if you are a large group (4 or more) order the "Kitchen Sink" which consists of more ice cream then you can consume in one sitting along with as many toppings as you can imagine. Don't worry if you can't finish, they will pack it up in doggy bags. This ice cream is not to be missed. I hear they have food as well, but who has room for dinner when there is ice cream to be had?
Samba Room
by musbars about Glamour of pre-Castro Cuba.
This Latin fusion restaurant/club is a chain, but it's not the least bit generic. Without being too over the top, Samba Room exudes a sophistication often missing in many Latin-themed bars and clubs. It's like pre-Castro Cuba--glamorous and chic. Seafood,
Enjoy wines and sigars.
