Ramada Airport/Cruise Port Hotel - Shuttle

by kathy1949

Can anyone tell me if the shuttle to/from the Ramada Airport/Cruise Port Hotel runs 24 hours a day. We arrive by plane from Seattle at just about midnight and would love to get the shuttle to this hotel, if it still runs at that time of night rather than a cab. Can't find that info anywhere on their site.

Yes, I cannot find it either, - however, since this is the business they are in, and is the main advert on their website, I cannot imagine that they do not cater to air passengers, that arrive all hours of the day and night.

Suggest that you contact the hotel and inform them of your arrival and request the shuttle transfer. Should not be a problem.

Travel Tips for Fort Lauderdale

TAKE A WALK AND GO FOR A DIP

by moiraistyx

One of the greatest things about Fort Lauderdale are the beaches. Although most of the beaches are public beaches, there are some private ones. Jason took me down to the beach just before the hurrican hit. The waves were beautiful and the wind refreshing with the hot son. My only complain would be that I didn't go for a swim due to the water's choppiness from the oncoming storm. It was very beautiful regardless. I took a stroll down the beach to collect my usual seashell while Jason went for some waters. I didn't notice that he was snapping pictures as I was walking back. Standing with Jason on the pier and looking out over the ocean.

Packing List

by Robinski9

Forget your water wings? No problem. One block from the hotel is a place called 'Wings'. Really cheap sporting goods store with tons of bikinis, towels, flip-flops, and souveniers. Don't bother wasting your money at the hotel gift shop. I got a great reversible OP bikini for $25. Much better than the $50-75 minimum for the ugly suits sold at the hotel.

Girls dancing on bar, decent music

by sunlovey about Automatic Slims

It's rowdy, it's trashy, it's cheesy and yet, it's not half bad. The back end of a retro silver Airstream trailer holds the DJ booth and a beaming, neon drive-in movie sign hangs above the bar. Kitschy memorabilia in the same fashion decorates the rest of the place. Girls on the bar in the shortest skirts known to man have a go at dancing to decent music while pouring some red-colored drink into the mouths of the ogling 'gentlemen' below. Upstairs you'll find a ton of pool tables and another bar. There's also a dimly lit back bar with booths.

Back to the music. The DJ is working from an Apple laptop, I assume, playing tunes off his itunes, but he does have some interesting mixes. You'll hear Nine Inch Nails, Rob Zombie, Beatie Boys, Stone Temple Pilots and such all blended into one another.

The crowd was predominently male, must have had something to do with bar girls. A lot of surfer and skater types. Once again, anything goes really. When girls are dancing on the bar in their underwear practically, you can't really enforce a dress code. ;-)

Digging the Tzaziki in Lauderdale

by DrDevience about The Greek Islands Taverna

Being a frequent traveler, I have learned to always ask the locals where they eat... I've eaten here numerous times now and I can say without hesitation that this is the best spot in Lauderdale for Greek cuisine.

The owners are actually from Greece and care a great deal about food quality and service. The place is always spotless (even the bathrooms) and the waitstaff is flat awesome.

The main thing though is the food. The wonderfully orgasmic food!

They have quite an big menu, many items being specialties of the owner himself. They even grow their own tomoatoes and man are they ever good. I've been spoiled now. I can't even buy a tomato in the store without being disappointed due to the wuality of Greek Island's... My favorite item on the menu is actually a combo of two things.

The tzaziki is found on the appitizer portion but is a 'must have' for any dish. This is the best cucumber concotion ever. Seriously.

While I adore their leg of lamb and many other items, my favorite has become the Ladoregano Chicken. Man oh man.. just perfectly seasoned and it comes with a wonderful vegetable medley, along with some lemony oven-roasted potatoes. You cannot beat this one for only $12.

Friendly, fast and tasty!

by garridogal about Mango's

After our Mancini Brunch Fiasco, we hit Mango's. It was too late for Breakfast so we settled on Lunch. Our waitress was friendly, attentive and guess what? The food was delivered promptly and correctly! My friends had burgers that looked really good. I had a cheesesteak that was more like steak-tips with cheese and an Herb Mayonnaise. It was good. And hey, the Bloody Mary was much needed after all the morning's drama!
