there are clothing consignment shops scattered all over the area. check out las olas boulevard in fort lauderdale and nw 30 way in lauderdale lakes, but there are more i believe in wilton among others.

Lynx Air from Ft Lauderdale to The Bahamas

If traveling from Ft Lauderdale to the Bahamas, Lynx Air is a regional airline with convenient service to the out-islands. However if you have any schedule to meet, DO NOT FLY LYNX AIR. I have used them on numerous occaisions but can no longer let myself be subjected to their abuse of trust. Their method of operation is to see how many tickets are purchased each day, then to where they are going. They load evryone on the plane and drop you off at your island (regardless of your being charged direct, non-stop rates, as they go along. No one else going to or near your island today ? Well maybe they will try again tomorrow. Same for your return, if no one is going from Lauderdale to your island, or near it, they will not come get you for your return. If another airline is nearby, maybe they will subcontract your ticket to them and ask if they will pick you up on their way by.
If you have any normal scedule expectations, DO NOT fly Lynx Air.
Swimming Gear & Cruise Wear

Depending on how long you'll be away just a rolaboard or a suitcase will do. Warm weather clothes, light shirts, shorts, swimsuits, flip flops, water shoes etc.
Formal wear such as suits for the evening formal dinners on cruise ships. Bring the sunblock!!!! Digital cameras, video camera Swim trunks, bikinis, flip flops, towels and water shoes are perfect for a cruise and beach destination.

OK, I'm going to try and be unbiased as I write this tip with the saying "to each their own" ringing in my ears.
If you're up for a night of dancing to top 40 and drinking well liquor mixed drinks with only a hint of coke or soda or tonic amidst a decent looking crowd in a decent environment, check out Art Bar.
But before you go in, look around outside for girls passing out free drink coupons for Art Bar, in fact, there are girls passing out free drink coupons to soooo many of these Las Olas establishments. This says something to me. Maybe to you it will simply mean an inexpensive night out. ;-)

They do have a few guys out front and velvet ropes and whatnot but I think you're good to go wearing most anything.
A Nice spot right on the strip

We had lunch here on our first day in FL and a drink there on our last. It's right on the strip and you can probably see the ocean from just about any of the tables. I had a Lobster salad sandwich which was very good. However, I think the Bartender either could not keep up with the pace of the crowd or was a joker. Ordered a Mango Margarita which was Green. Okay, I've never seen one that color, but I drank it. It was fine. Ordered another one and was told they had more - do I want Raspberry instead? Sure. What came to the table was a Brown Mystery Margarita. Good sport that I am, I drank it. We think it was a 7-11 Cola Slurpee Flavor. Whatever!

Strip mall location with wonderful food. Small restaurant seemed to fit some of the largest parties all celebrating. Our waiter was accomodating adding pepper, pepper flakes, extra cheese ... They made plate sharing very easy & comfortable. Brushetta with warm garlic bread was wonderful. House salad with creamy Italian dressing was equally wonderful. Lasagna & Eggplant Rollatini were wonderful. Desserts & cappuchino looked good but we just couldn't ...
