Best Pie in Ft. Lauderdale?

by lakelivin

Next week, we're traveling to Ft. Lauderdale for my husband's birthday. Instead of a cake, I'd like to get his favorite...a Coconut Cream Pie. Can you recommend a bakery/restaurant who makes a great coco cream pie? Thanks very much!

I like Mother Butler's Pies. They are on Commercial Boulevard at US 1 in the Denny's Restaurant. The best Key Lime pie is available at Bob Roth's New River Groves, located on Griffin Road west of 441/ SR 7.

Travel Tips for Fort Lauderdale

Book yourself a cruise and head out to sea. Maybe try a day or 2 trip to the Bahamas. You're treated with plenty of food, gambling, swimming pools, lounge chairs, music, evening shows, and wonderful sites.

Topless or thonging on Fort Lauderdale Beach

by JM_runs

Most days the best place to watching good bodies in thongs is at Las Olas and A1A. This is a the 'local's' section of beach due to the parking available by the beach and back under the bridge.

Most days you will see dozens of women in thongs and probably a few men. The beach is ‘Thong Friendly’. If you are adventurous feel free to thong. It's OK for both men and women.

Some times you will see topless women but it they are less visible and tend to be discreet. If you want to go topless just ask a life guard if it’s a problem. They will probably tell you what they tell us, “No problem, If somebody really complains, I may come let you know, but don't worry about it. Nobody ever complains." Just don’t go topless on the highway.”

We suggest you lay out close by the life gaurd stand. They will keep and eye out to make sure no one gives you a hard time.

If you would like to know more, and want a guide to zones on the beach where you may be more comfortable, then checkout the following threads on 'TopFree' and the 'Thong Wearers Message Board' on the links below.

There are The TopFree has a couple of encouraging examples and the Thong Wearers message board has several long and detailed Fort Lauderdale beach reports, that include everything from parking to coffee shops.

Wine Bar on the Promenade

by cjg1 about Vintages(Navigator of the Seas)

When I first saw vintages I thought, Nice a wine Bar. The bar had nice wooden interiors with lots of seating. The atmosphere was inviting and I liked the wine barrel tables around the bar. When we got a look at the wine list we were not impressed. It was full of California wines. We found three or four from Chile. This was a big dissapointment for the both of us since neither Liz or myself are fans of California wine. Casual

Great Early Bird Specials!

by Hey_icu about The 15th Street Fisheries

The food was wonderful and we had a terrific view of the waterway. If you arrive around 5:15 you can watch them feed the pellicans. Be sure and ask for a table that will give you the best view.
For the early bird special you'll want to eat in the upstairs dining room. You receive a 5 course meal for just $16.95. Also, if you go on the Jungle Queen first they will give you a coupon for a free desert.

The Greek Islands...

The Greek Islands Taverna.

Don't have a picture...the attached pic is of a small storm just off shore. It was really beautiful.
This is a traditional family owned Greek restaurant. No food court gyros here! Everything. The menu was enormous!
