Re: Accomodation

Hi there.

I have stayed at the Comfort Inn in FLL ( in the past when catching an early morning flight. It is about halfway between the airport and Las Olas Blvd. and if you have a rental car it will be easy to access all the attractions from beach to shopping or you can take either a cab or shuttle.

I stayed there last year at my rate was $99 USD per night.

If you are looking for a different place (very homey and unique), check out the Blue Seas Courtyard in Lauderdale by the Sea:
I can not say enough about the place!

Travel Tips for Fort Lauderdale

Be Friendly...You're on Vacation

by cjg1

It always bothers me to see people on vacation with a sour expression on their face. You're on and have a drink! Liz and I always have a great time whether we are with a new set of friends we've just made or just with each other. Making friendly conversation with the staff is always helpful and gets you better service.

Liz is the more social of the two of us. She always makes friends and finds interesting people. By the end of the cruise she knows every bartenders name and remembers all the people we've met and where they are from. It's amazing how she retians all that information.

Collectively known to locals...

Collectively known to locals as 'Second Street,' this conglomeration of bars, cafes, and clubs in close vicinity to the downtown area is at the forefront of Ft. Lauderdale’s renaissance. Great fun and very much packed on Friday nights; it is now even legal to walk on the streets with open alcoholic beverages. When the weather is nice, it’s quite a scene.

Take a flight to Fort Lauderdale Airport.
The best way to get around in Florida and Fort Lauderdale is by car. The yellow sport car on the picture just show up while I was walking on the boardwalk. Couldn't resist taking this photo. =)

by goingsolo about Primavera

Primavera is a fantastic Italian restaurant located in a tiny strip mall off Oakland Park Boulevard. The food is excellent, albeit on the pricey side. Its a great special occasion or romantic dinner location.

The food here is Northern Italian and probably the best you will find in Fort Lauderdale. Pastas are homemade and excellent. The restaurant has an appetizer cart with fresh pasta and seafood. You can order any combination of items either as an appetizer or main course. Their seafood is amazing, especially the chilled seafood appetizer. The fish is always fresh and cooked to perfection.

Sea Escape cruise

by iam1wthee

On board there is a casino, movie theater, disco, restaurant, bar, and small performance space. The food is great and you have a good variety buffet style. The waiter we had was funny he made the trip. You get both dinner and breakfast. The disco plays hits from different genres and eras. They have kareoke and quiz games where you can win champaigne. It seems like the people who were first in the casino were winning a lot of money but those who came later like mid cruise were loosing theirs. The singers and dancers were not that great they needed more practice.

This is a 4-5 hour cruise depending on which night you go. The weekends are crowded with people so if you want less people go during the week. You get discount if you are an AAA or Florida resident.

Leave your home early because it is not easy to find.
