Simply Stunning!

The hotel is beautiful, beds are comfortable, and the pool area is fantastic! I would recommend this hotel -- it's well suited and equipped for conventions and small meetings as well as for a romantic weekend. Wouldn't recommend it for families as the restaurants on site do not cater to the younger crowd or their appetites!

Heavenly Pool

I had ot leave to catch a flight at 9:30 in the morning but found time to swim a few laps in the Westin's pool. Since it was early, no one was in the pool but me. So refreshing!

Unique Quality: The pool overlooked the Atlantic Ocean. The water would overflow over the walls of the pool and then drain via waterfall to a pool below. Kids on floats would have a blast floating through this on blowup Shamu's and innertubes.

Heavenly Bed, Bath and Beach!

I was only in Ft. Lauderdale for 24 hours but enjoyed every minute I had in this incredible hotel. Upon arriving I found out the hotel was not full so when I checked in I was able to upgrade my room to partial ocean view. I got a corner room on the 25th floor with a balcony that wrapped all the way around. What luck!

Definetly coming back

by A TripAdvisor Member

Stayed at The Westin Diplomat the weekend of 5/30/03. I booked online through the hotel's web site for $240 a night. The hotel was fabulous. The room was very large, quiet and with modern decor. Everything in the hotel and room appear to be brand new. The service was great. Room service was quick and excellent. The hotel restaurant, Hollywood Prime Steakhouse was equally first class. I have nothing but good things to say about the hotel and my stay. Definetly coming back to the Diplomat.

not for those on a budget

by A TripAdvisor Member

We put together a un-scheduled trip to Florida after seeing some great airfares published by Trans-Meridian Airlines out of Syracuse and decided to splurge at the Westin Diplomat. What a great hotel! Awesome pool, great ocean access, great food, and they charge you for all of it! Word to the wise, traveling on a budget? keep on going, this place will zap your wallet but provides 1st class service doing so. Best darn Pina Colada I ever had, $11.00. I'll have a Grey Goose martini please, $14.00 You get the picture. Rooms are nice with great views (free) and rent a pool side cabana if you can, pricey, but worth it. We would stay here again, although east coast of Florida is not our cup of tea.

Awsome rooms... Great service!

The Diplomat was a great hotel, I have been in many hotels around the US and nothing can be compared with the decor, luxury and service of this one. Great experience that will never forget.

Beautiful

The hotel is breathtaking - the lobby entrance is grand and spectacular. The pool area is spacious with an upper infinity pool and lower lagoon-style pool area. There isn't a beach to speak of - there's a breakwall and although you are able to swim in the ocean it is difficult to try to walk along the beach. You need to walk about 1 mile north on Ocean Drive to access the beach and then another mile north of that you'll reach the boardwalk. So, don't pick this resort if you imagine long walks along the beach...you'll be disappointed. It's an extremely expensive hotel. Turkey sandwich & iced tea was $25US from room service. A vodka/orange in the bar was $11US. Be prepared to spend! My room was nice with a large balcony but no furniture on it so it was a bit useless. The room could have been cleaner but was OK. The staff are friendly and helpful. You should have a car if you wish to get around...the hotel is in the middle of condo row so not a lot to do within walking distance.

Luxurious and relaxing - delightful experience

We've stayed at this resort twice and in the process of booking our third stay. Though we experienced some minor problems, the hotel staff was professional and expert in addressing our concerns. On our first stay when our shower had a leak, it was fixed sometime during the day while we were out. When we told the front desk that we didn't know there was a charge for tennis, they immediately removed it from our bill. When our bellman saw that our room was not made up upon our entering, he promptly got us an upgraded room at no extra charge. Though there might be some glitches, the staff is anxious to see that any problems are adequately attended to.Meals in general are pricey, but very good quality and enjoyable. Not for everybody's budget but a worthwhile experience.

So Beautiful

by A TripAdvisor Member

This Westin is incredible. I was immediately impressed with the room and we had one of the cheaper rooms. The bathrooms are marble with a separate 2 headed shower and a deep tub. The heavenly bed was so comfortable and plush. We had a great view of the golf course. The lobby area is also beautiful with fountains and lights. The pool was amazing and the ocean waves broke on the side of the hotel property!!
So don't come here expecting a dive in the ocean but come here to feel pampered and relax. The restaurant is pricey and not very good & the location of the hotel is a good distance to any good restaurants as far as we could see but there was always taxi's right outside waiting to take you wherever you wanted to go. Come here at least once just to be there and enjoy.

Westin Diplomat

Thinking of staying at this hotel beginning of February and have a few questions. Heard there is constuction in progress next to the hotel - is it disturbing at the pool or in the rooms? Has the beach been washed away by the hurricanes? Is February a busy time to visit? Is the grand deluxe room worth paying the extra for? Thanks for your help :)

Just a suggestion, why don't you direct to the horses mouth and call Westin's toll free 800 number, better yet, why don't you just call the hotel.

stayed there last April. Zero beach. This is an extremely busy hectic hotel with lots of large conventions. The lobby is a madhouse. However the rooms, even standard, are quite nice. We were there for a weekend wedding and did not eat in any of the hotel restaurants. Some of our friends made a real vacation out of it and said the hotel restaurants were not so good. As an alternative, they are the Westin Country Club hotel less than a mile away, seated on a lovely golf course. The people who stayed here for the wedding were much happier. Just a thought. there is not that much in the immediate neighborhood.
