Love it.

One of the advantages to being a loyal Starwood Preferred Guest is the opportunity to get upgrades when you get there. This time, it was the Governor's Suite, which overlooks the beach and the pool. Absolutely gorgeous view, lavish accommodations, and excellent service.

There were two knocks on the hotel, but both were still worth keeping the 5 stars... first, the Governor's suite does not have a bathtub which is my wife's favorite thing to do in a hotel. The second, is that the minibar fridge did not get cold enough to cool a soda, and despite a call in, it has not been resolved.

Overall, this is an excellent hotel and I will be back.

We stayed in the crowne plaza nearby but this is where the conference was so I spent quite a bit of time in the hotel. I would definitely come back and bring my family for a beach vacation. The grounds are lovely. The staff was very helpful and friendly.

Unique Quality: Right ON THE BEACH!

Directions: On Highway 1A right on the beach south west of Ft. Lauderdale

Living in luxury

Those of us who are simpler people are in awe when they stay at a place like the Westin. To start, the rooms are fabulous, with the "Heavenly" beds and pillows which will ease you into your sleep. The bathrooms are huge, with separate showers, tubs, and toilet areas. There are balconies so you can take in the ocean air. The cleaning crew does a great job of making the room sparkle.

Since this is a resort, there are several dining options available (Asian, Italian, and a steakhouse in the main hotel, seafood across the street). There are also a pair of pools and beach access. Everything is done well, the staff is very friendly.

The one knock I have is the location. You are a mile or two south of the Boardwalk, so if you don't have a car and don't like to walk in the heat of summer, your dining options are limited to the very expensive resort choices.

In summary, you generally get what you pay for, and you're paying a lot at the Westin.

Simply Stunning!

The hotel is beautiful, beds are comfortable, and the pool area is fantastic! I would recommend this hotel -- it's well suited and equipped for conventions and small meetings as well as for a romantic weekend. Wouldn't recommend it for families as the restaurants on site do not cater to the younger crowd or their appetites!

Heavenly Pool

I had ot leave to catch a flight at 9:30 in the morning but found time to swim a few laps in the Westin's pool. Since it was early, no one was in the pool but me. So refreshing!

Unique Quality: The pool overlooked the Atlantic Ocean. The water would overflow over the walls of the pool and then drain via waterfall to a pool below. Kids on floats would have a blast floating through this on blowup Shamu's and innertubes.

Heavenly Bed, Bath and Beach!

I was only in Ft. Lauderdale for 24 hours but enjoyed every minute I had in this incredible hotel. Upon arriving I found out the hotel was not full so when I checked in I was able to upgrade my room to partial ocean view. I got a corner room on the 25th floor with a balcony that wrapped all the way around. What luck!

The Westin Diplomat Resort And

Best (5.0 of 5.0 stars)

We stayed here in February. 2004, wanting a little weekend getaway and enjoyed it very much. The Diplomat has been completely redone recently and is now a gorgeous hotel right on the beach. The hotel is huge and has a couple of restaurants (the sushi place is pretty good), a Starbucks in the lobby, meeting rooms, a spa, shops and a beautiful pool area. Service was good considering that it is such a large hotel.

The Diplomat has become a popular place for parties and conventions and Nikki Marina across the street is the place to go on Thursday nights and Satine, the bar/lounge in the hotel, is pretty popular on Fridays.

The rooms are standard comfortable Westin rooms with the added perk of a large balcony. Get an oceanfront room if possible. You can sit on the balcony and watch the waves and fall asleep to the sound of the ocean.

Unique Quality: The view and the Nikki Marina area across the street

Directions: A1A between Hallandale Beach Blvd and Hollywood Blvd.
