More about Tropi Rock Resort

The Tropi Rock Resort

by A TripAdvisor Member

If you are visiting Fort Lauderdale, Florida... The TROPI ROCK Resort is the place to stay! It is located just 1 block from the beach! The Caribbean decor/atmosphere is adorable and makes you feel as if you are on a tropical island far away. The rooms were immaculate. Mick (owner) is a sweetheart and makes you feel right at home!

Would love to Return to Tropi Rock!

If you are looking for a unique, comfortable, and easy beach access experience, Tropi Rock Resort is the place for you! I stayed at Tropi Rock on my second trip to Ft. Lauderdale. After staying at a chain hotel during my first stay where the owners lied to me about location/closeness to the beach and where accomadations were horrible, I was really looking for a unique, yet comfortable location to spend this second trip. Being a teacher with very little funds, vacations are few and far between. Therefore, I was determined to enjoy myself on this next trip. Tropi Rock Resort far exceeded my expectations and reinstated my love for the Ft. Lauderdale area. In addition, the reasonable rates made the trip easily affordable. The owner, Mick, made sure that my friend and I were taken care of and I noticed that he seemed to treat each of his guests with this unique and caring personality. He was very familiar with the area and was able to recommend restaurants and other attractions. While the rooms were not filled with luxurious and unneeded amenities, they were decorated with unique styles, such as our 50's theme, and were thorougly cleaned daily. I am very particular about feeling clean and comfortable where I sleep and Tropi Rock did just this for me. The staff was friendly, the pool was clean and well-kept, and the tropical gardens and waterfall decor made us feel as if we had escaped to a true tropical island. We also loved the sundeck with the brand-new hammocks and the easy, two-block walk to the beach and short walk to downtown(restaurants/shops). We spent the day on the beach, afternoons at the pool, showered, and then took a warm-breezed walk to town. Every day and night was full of perfection. The only downfall, IT was VERY hard to leave. I will definitely return!!! -Erica Meidell

An AMAZING place!

by A TripAdvisor Member

My three friends and I recently stayed at Tropi Rock Resort and had an AMAZING time! None of us had ever been to Ft. Lauderdale and we couldn't of picked a more perfect place to stay! Not only was the resort a tropical paradise, but also the service was great! I thought Mick did a great job welcoming us to a foreign place and making us feel right at home! We are already talking about going back to Ft. Lauderdale and I wouldn't stay anywhere else! If you are looking for a fun and relaxing time in a wonderful tropical setting...I suggest Tropi Rock Resort!

awesome hotel/awesome team

We recently had a short trip to fort lauderdale, to accomany my daughter, before she left for an adventure to an island in the bahamas. I did alot of searching to find just the right hotel, and did we find it. The owners of Tropi Rock Resort, are just awesome people, Mick and his family made us feel so welcome, and helpful for information, made my daughter feel so comfortable, which is what I was looking for a realxed setting. The pool area, is a true retreat, you feel you are in some hidden oasis, yet the street is right there. The gardens, the casding water fountain, it was just so right. The rooms are all different and a welcome change from standard boring hotel rooms. The roof top, what a view, and if you have a chance take a nap in the hammick(sorry if spelt wrong). There is so much more I would love to say about Tropi Rock, but I think I will leave a few wonderful surprises for future guests to see for themselves. We would love to return, and spend more time. Oh yes, and the ocean is just barley 2 blocks away, and restaurants many to walk to. If you want a at home feeling, and yet be at a samll resort book this one!Debbie,Stephen & Rebecca

Great Time, Thanks Mick!!!!!!!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Tropi Rock for 2 nights in April/03. It has been one on the best hotels we have ever stayed at. Mick, the owner, went out of his way to make our stay enjoyable. He was even so generous as to give us a umbrella for use on a rainy day. The cleaning staff is impecable. The tile floors are a wonderful change from the musty carpets in the other hotels we stayed at. The price you pay is more than reasonable for the services that are provided. The hotel is a quiet oasis, a comfortable home away from home. The next time we are in the Ft. Lauderdale are we will definitely be giving Mick a call. Thanks again Mick for the wonderful experience!!!! We won't forget Mick or the Tropi Rock.

Excellent Service

by A TripAdvisor Member

My friend and I found this little hotel to be wonderful and very charming. I was hesitant about going down to Fort Lauderdale during spring break. There were a few college kids staying there, but they were at the hotel were very quiet and well behaved. The rooms were very clean and the decor was delightful, plus you can't beat the price with the AAA discount. The pool area and grounds are well kept. There is also a lovely sun deck with hamecks and lawn chairs every where. Mick was very helpful and made us feel at home. We had a great time chatting with him. I recommend this hotel and I would come back again.

Tropirock Resort is a GEM

by A TripAdvisor Member

Vacations are meant to be adventures. If all you want or need is a bed surrounded by 4 boring walls, go stay at a chain hotel/motel with their white walls and managers who rarely show genuine interest in their customers. If, however, you are looking for a charming oasis, filled with art, color and serene foliage, Tropirock Resort is a place for you. Our pre and post cruise stay March 28/29 and April 6, 2003 was a truly wonderful experience. Free internet café, complementary coffee poolside, sundeck with hammocks and of course the pool in which my girls grew fins. There is also a tennis court and equipment room for energetic types. All within a surprisingly short 2 blocks to the beach if sand and salt is your thing. The only thing that made getting off our ship post cruise bearable was knowing that we were headed back to Tropirock. Mick and John (owners and managers) are incredibly genuine, friendly and helpful. Don't let the low rates fool you, Tropirock is one of Ft. Lauderdale's hidden treasures. Do yourself a favor and stay at Tropirock. I bet you will be back - I know we will be.B. Oasis in the desert of white walls

by TripAdvisor Member karenyvonne

I truly enjoyed my stay here. I was in town for business 3 days April, but wanted to be near the beach. Only two blocks from the beach and away from all the noise and crowds. It is an easy walk to resturants and the beach. The rooms were spacious and colorful. I loved the sundeck or moondeck since I spent time up there gazing at the full moon on a couple nights. The bathrooms were a little small, but fit with the mode of the room . I didn't like the elevator. I was on the third (top)floor, but took the stairs expect for when I checked in and out. The staff was helpful. Even helping me, without being asked, the one time I did have trouble with the elevator. The grounds were beautifully kept and the view from my window was nice. I loved the hotel since I travel so much I like to stay in a place that has more flair than the average hotel chain.

Way Over-rated

We toured this hotel in March to see if it would appeal to us for a future stay. All I can say is that on a scale of 1 - 10 it is about a 3 or 4. Rooms are very old. The location, while fairly close to the beach didn't appeal to us at all. This is a place where you definitely get what you pay for. There is a reason the rates are so low. There are too many better choices in Fort Lausderdale, even in this price category.

Travelling to ft lauderdale/miami for 1 week...

by bojan_026

I will be travelling to florida with a friend in february for 1 week.

We are looking for a place to stay in Ft Lauderdale or Miami relatively close to the beach or the night life or both. We will be renting a car.

Can anyone suggest a cheap/ reasonably priced hotel that is in any of the areas that i mentioned?
We are both males and 23yrs old...any suggestions on what to do, what places to go, how to make the trip even better?

thank you all for your help

PS where are the good parties at?

The last time I stayed in:

Tropi Rock Resort
2900 Belmar St., Fort Lauderdale 33304
(800) 987-9385, (954) 564-0523
Fax: (954) 564-1313
Rate Range: $68/$170

It is one road behind the beach and centrally located towards the CBD of FLL....
They are fully serviced apartments with some garden around and I found it convenient to stay there.

The Clay Hotel, Miami Beach Washington and Hispaniola Dr. Clean, cheap, lots of young people, lots of clubs and restaurants, two blocks from beach and Starbucks.

For Ft. Lauderdale you might check out

across the highway from the beaches...walking distance to many restaurants etc.

The San Juan Hotel in So. Beach is across the street from the beach. Lincoln Road Walk is just around the corner and walking distance from all the clubs. Their rates are great and they have a pool. 10 minutes to the mainland in a car or you can take the bus. In february they also have the Goombay festival in Coconut Grove with the bed races and dancing in the street. The Vizcaya Museum/Renaisance Castle, Seaquarium, Parrot Jungle are very interesting places to visit during the day.

The best parties will always be in So.Beach.

Have fun!

P,S. You can buy tour tickets at the hotel or take the Tour Trollie in Coconut Grove. Bay Side also has Boat Tours of the Famous Peoples' Houses (Gloria Estephan , Ricky Martin, Al Capone) with drinks and dancing aboard.
