Best Florida Beach Location

by A TripAdvisor Member

We just left the Best Western Beach Resort Fort Myers Beach after our third stay. This time we truly tested the amenities of the resort with our sons now in college accompanying us. All of us continue to truly enjoy this hotel and the absolutely perfect beach location!! We enjoy the view from every room-can't recommend it enough. Each guest can select their own "pace" whether you want to simply enjoy the wonderfully landscaped grounds with the striking beach view or keep the pace of college students active with beach activities. We had everything we needed in our very clean room to complete a super stay. Each morning we enjoyed our hotel provided rolls, muffins juices and coffee from the lobby while sitting right on the beach. We had a large room with full sized refrig, microwave and stove top cooking options. Then there's the grill if you prefer to sit at the Gulf and grill outdoors. The staff is very helpful if you need something-just ask and it will be provided promptly!!! Just pack your clothes and enjoy this great beach location!!! We've stayed here with our family at different life stages and each time the Best Western Fort Myers Beach has been great!!

We Love the Best Western

by A TripAdvisor Member

The Best Western, Fort Myers Beach is a lovely place to stay. My husband and I live in Naples and several times a year we visit for a long weekend just to get away and go someplace different.

The rooms all have beautiful views of the Gulf of Mexico. They are clean and well kept.

The front desk staff is always helpful and polite.

Breakfast is quite nice. Coffee, tea, juice, donuts, cerial, baked goods, grits etc.

The sound of the surf at night is peaceful and serene.

Great value for the money, We would suggest going there anytime.

June 2005
After a busy week in Orlando with the Theme Parks and the shopping Malls it was great to be back at the Best Western Beach Resort in Fort Myers Beach. My wife and I have stayed at this Hotel many times and enjoyed its peaceful and superb location. We try to visit in June when it is quieter and the weather hopefully is more settled. This year we just missed another hurricane and very heavy rainfall which left most of the area with very high water levels which were drained to the sea and left an interesting coffee colouration to the water. Many people thought that this was the likely cause anyway.
We like the Best Western because its just a great American beach Hotel which keeps things simple and so enjoyable. No fancy dining rooms , spas , gyms etc. Get your coffee and muffins , fruit and cakes from the reception area and get out in the lovely garden or eat on your balcony- great!
The rooms are clean with good facilities for making snacks and drinks. A real beach side atmosphere in every way. Smallish bathrooms are the only real draw back. Perhaps putting in a shower cubicle instead of a tub would help. Room rates are getting quite high in the Fort Myers Beach area, and the Best Western is no exception. I read in another review that you are paying for location and this is very true.but its right on the beach with free car parking for residents and just far enough away from the buzz of Times Square to be ideal. We love to walk the beach early morning and late evening and nearly always end up in the square for icecreams or drinks.
If you do decide to stay at the Best Western Beach Resort say HELLO to COCO the parrot and he will give you all the low down about the place.

Hope to see you all next year.
Mr, Mrs D.T THOMAS..
GOD BLESS AMERICA...........

Stayed 8 nights May 1 thru May 8, 2005, with my boyfriend at Best Western Beach Resort (north end of Ft Meyers Beach) walking distance to Fountain Square but far enough away from noise of square. Very satisfied with accommodations of all rooms having a full kitchenette and private patio facing oceanfront. Very clean and well maintained Continental Breakfast included in price of room, every morning consisting of fresh fruit, breakfast rolls, muffins, donuts, apple/orange juice each morning from 7am to 10 am. Coffee, tea and hot chocolate available 24 hours a day. Fresh beach towels available daily at no cost. All staff members very polite and helpful with anything you need. Some rooms with tub and commode is small area confined away from sink of bathroom, but no problem for two people in a room. Other rooms have a large shower bathroom that is larger. Heated pool is great and plenty of wash off areas around pool, beach and garden area. Full sized grill for guests to use with swings and picnic tables for guests to use.

Would highly recommend this 5 story hotel for couples or families with pets. Very well maintained and clean.

Will definitely go back to this area of Florida in the future.

What a view!

My mother & I stayed at the Best Western Beach Resort from Sept 18th thru the 22nd. My first thought when walking into the room & looking out the balcony was "AAAHHH!! This is perfect!" All of the rooms look out to the gulf thru the beautiful palm trees.
We came to Ft Myers to go shelling on Sanibel & Captiva, unfortunately most of the beach areas on Captiva were closed for refurbushing, but the one area we did find was very nice. On Sanibel, we had to pay $2 an hour to park & it took 15 min to walk out to the beach, not exactly worth it. For all the hype about Sanibel having the best shells around, we found 100 times more shells on Bonita Beach & free parking too!
Although the weather was compromised by hurricane Rita, a rainy day at the beach is better than any day at work!
The hotel is within walking distance of Times Square and our favorite restaurant (thanks to the recommendation of Scott at the front desk) The Beached Whale, thankfully we walked off our dinner every night!
We travel quite a lot & this whole experience is the closest to a 10 that we have encountered yet!! The only draw back was the little bugs that come in at dusk when the balcony door is open & lights are on in the room. Go to Topps & buy bug spray for $1, it's worth it!!
We will return!!

Roach Motel

by A TripAdvisor Member

This could have been a great two nights stay on the beach. The first clue the hotel was in disrepair was the duct tape holding up the toilet paper dispenser. The real shocker was when we returned for dinner and turned on the lights, we were greeted by an army of roaches. They were in the beds, on th lamp shades, on the counter, on the floor. We reported this to the manager at the front desk. She said the rooms are sprayed monthly by their service in a very unfriendly way, and turned away and went back to her business and ignored us. Nothing was done about the problems. We left with a promise to never return.

Wished We'd stayed longer

by TripAdvisor Member TonyW

Stayed here for 2 nights in Dec 05. We had a great time and wish we had stayed here longer rather than go down to Naples.

The hotel is right on the beach, great for early morning/evening walks to watch the sunset.

Nice pool (although might get over crowded if the hotel is full I think) and gardens with lots of palm trees and shade if you need it. Our room had a kitchen (fridge/freezer, sink, hob and microwave I think). Bathroom must have just been installed as it was like new. All rooms have balconies too and all are sea facing. The hotel also has a little cottage next door that you can rent, I think this gets booked up months in advance.

One the first morning while lieing in bed I saw a dolphin swimming along, how cool is that! We also saw dolphins the night before from the pier (which is about 300 m up the beach). Quite a few restaurants/bars all within walking distance at times square.

Breakfast was just juice/coffee and donuts, great to have outside by the beach. I think they got hit quite bad by the hurricane judging by some photos in reception but it was all fixed when we went.

Its quite a drive from central Fort Myers (about 25 mins) but if its the beach you want this is the place.

Great value and location!

I stayed at the BW Beach Resort in April 2005. I traveled with 3 of my girlfriends. It was a long-ish ride from the airport, but we split the cost 4 ways, so it wasn't too bad. Upon our arrival, the hotel looked like an ordinary beachside motel. However, the lobby was fun and festive, complete with talking parrot. The room was CLEAN, spacious enough for 4 adults. We had a kitchenette, complete with supplies and a full size fridge, which was great for storing our margarita mixers! There were 2 double beds, and tile floors which are great for a beach area. The bathroom was a little outdated (but come on, most people's private bathrooms are outdated!) Our balcony overlooked the pool, which in turn overlooked the beautiful water. The beach during the day was calm and restful for sunbathing or swimming. A short walk downtown, there were many little shops and cool places to eat! Bonus that the hotel provided Dunkin Donuts in the lobby every morning - free! As well as coffee and juices. We just loved the nice old man that tended to the donuts and juice in the mornings, he did a great job! I would highly recommend this resort to anyone!!!

Great hotel, wonderful view

by TripAdvisor Member FromIndiana

The hotel was great. You walked out of the door to a well kept lawn with comfortable chairs to sit in, then right to the beach. Unlike other places in Florida, when you opened the door of your balcony, you were close enough to hear the waves. In walking the beach, I felt the Best Western was one of the better beachside hotels.
When we were there it was mostly older people and families. The beach wasn't crowded and it wasn't a loud area.
The room was older but clean and the people were friendly. When I go back to Florida, I will be sure to book a room there again.
