More about Casa Playa Resort
Had a Blast
Casa Playa was an excellent choice...it's a little further ( 10 min. walk) from the times square and all the noise but still close enough to walk. The rooms were very clean, well equipped and the staff( karen and debbie) was very friendly, helpful and nice. we enjoyed renting waverunners down by the lanai kai, we saw 6 dolphins swimming within 6 feet of our waverunner. we also went on the key west express which was fun, just wouldv'e liked more time in key west. we loved the salads at the plaka and the chicken burritos and cheap beer at the burrito to go . i have stayed in fort myers twice and would do it again.
excellent beach hotel!
stayed for 4 nights - we had 3 rooms - all clean and functional. the hotel is well taken care of and the staff is friendly. sits directly on the beach, and all amenities are well thought out. (clean bathrooms by the pool with foaming soap and resupplied towels tell me the attention to detail is there). the hotel is very pet friendly. If you don't like dogs you won't like this hotel.
Pretty good, but some smoking issues
Stayed at Casa Playa for a week. They insisted all rooms were nonsmoking when we made the reservation, but the room they gave us reaked badly of cigarette smoke.
After much complaining we were given a different room. If the resort was full we probably would have been in trouble as their attitude about this was less than steller.
They insisted that people are allowed to smoke on the lanai, but they have to close the sliding glass door. Like a smoker is really going to care about their rule? The wind blowing off the Gulf pushes the smoke right into the room. And I'm sure people just did what they want and smoked in the room anyway.
Other than that the place was decent enough, the bed was of mediocre comfort.
The location is nice right on the gulf with a beautiful view. The pool is OK size, but we had limited use of it as jackhammering and dust from the neighboring condo. building's pool renovation made this resorts pool area not a pleasant place to be.
Great stay at Casa Playa
My husband and I stayed in a king suite on the 6th floor.
It was one of the most relaxing vacations ever. The room had everything we needed except food. The kitchen was well stocked. The view was great!
The pool is small, but since we were there at a down time at Fort Myers, we usually had the pool to ourselves.
You can easily walk to Times Square, many restaurants, a park and 7-11.
The hotel employees were friendly and helpful.
The hotel is small and thus may have a different feel during a really busy time. But, my brother & family stayed during spring break and recommended it to us. They really enjoyed their stay , also.
Clean, quiet and relaxing!!
My husband and I stayed at Casa Playa for a week. I have to say that it was the best week ever on the island! It was quiet and very relaxing. The place is very clean. The staff (Debbie, Amy, Yancy and Ana Yancy) couldn't have been any more nicer. Thanks for the great stay! We will definitely be back again next year!
Casa Playa is Wonderful
This is our 8th visit to Casa Playa and it just gets better all the time. The property is so well taken care of and there are continuous updates to the rooms and the property. In the last year there has been a lot of painting, the boardwalk to the beach is all new and there are new beach chairs for guests to use - at no charge! This is right on the beach and we always stay in a King Studio because we can look right out on the Gulf of Mexico and Sanibel Island from our bed. Highly recommended.
Beautiful view & wonderful room
On a trip to Fort Myers for business, I decided to stay at the beach and had the opportunity to get a place at Casa Playa. I stayed in a studio condo unit on the 7th floor that overlooks the intercoastal. The building sits on the beach, so all I had to do was go downstairs to either the pool or the beach....it was all right there!! And, the resort is within easy walking distance from Time Square, the social and dining area for the beach.
The studio was completely furnished with beach cottage decor; beautiful furnishings and even beadboard on the walls! An added plus was a fully furnished kitchen with dishwasher, stovetop, microwave and full size refridgerator. The balacony had a table and chairs was a great place to eat and view the sights.
A "definite" place to return to in the future. The unit was immaculate, tasteful, and grounds matched. Price was right and stay was great!!
If you are lucky enough to stay on Ft. Myers Beach try the Casa Playa
We love Ft. Myers Beach but we have never stayed overnight. We picked the Casa Playa because when we drove over the bridge and looked north the building stood out with it's colorful paint job. We decided to stay in a bay unit. which was was less expensive then the gulf front units and we knew we wouldn't be inside much during the day. It was small but nicely decorated. The kitchen had an 18 inch dishwasher, 2 burner cooktop,(that I used to make my oatmeal every morning) microwave, coffee pot and blender. It even came with margarita glasses!
I loved waking up in the morning and looking outside at the palm trees blowing in the breeze. We were on the 3rd floor so we were high enough to have a view of the bay and all the boats that passed by day or night.
As soon as we got off the elevator we were at the boardwalk to the beach and it was fantastic! We liked the beach lounge chairs and spent hours at the beach. There is a heated pool but we prefered the sand and waves. When we wanted to go to Times Square for lunch it was an easy walk. At sunset we were back on the lounge chairs enjoying it with the other guests.
The in room safe was a nice amenity too. Very easy to use and it was free! Staff was knowledgeable of the area and very helpful.
We love Ft. Myers Beach and Casa Playa and can't wait to return. The bay unit had everything we needed for our stay.
Worth every penny
Just completed a three night stay in room 601, a one-bedroom gulf side unit. Everything was wonderful. The suite was spacious, clean and comfortable. The kitchen was put to good use (which saved money on eating out), as was the balcony.
The property is right on the beach, and the sound of the waves can be heard throughout the unit. Simply wonderful.
Two slight caveats -- 1) traffic heading into FMB can be intense. (obviously, this is not the fault of the hotel by any means!) Plan on extra time if you plan to be out and about. Luckily, the Casa Playa is on the northern end of the island, which helps.
2) The dishwasher in the unit does a marginal job of cleaning dishes, so be sure to double check (especially silverware) before using anything. A minor nit.
All in all, we would be happy to recommend this to anyone. It's a casual but glorious place to stay.
Clean, Quiet, Relaxing, Romantic, Can it get any better than this?
I discovered Casa Playa through Trip Advisor. From it's ideal location right on the surf of one of the best, most beautiful beaches in the world to the immaculate cleanliness of the property. This is our fifth time to Casa Playa and it keeps getting better each time. Each time we come back we meet old friends from previous years, they must be doing something right or people would not return. You will be greeted by the office staff that are the nicest, friendliest most accommodating people you will ever find.
We occupied two units for two weeks, a 1 bedroom gulf view on the fourth floor with all new furnishing and a full kitchen, loved the full size dishwasher and new mattress in the bedroom with flat screen TV. It had a great view with spectacular sunsets every night not to mention the action on the beach during the day. The second unit was on the sixth floor that faced the bay, it was an efficiency that had pretty close to a full size kitchen, 2 burner cooktop in the counter, full size microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, blender and electric coffee pot. During the day you could watch the fishing boats along with the pleasure and gambling boats go past and at night you are rewarded with the lights of Fort Myers which is breathtaking. All of the units have good sized bathrooms with full bath tubs and showers. I think most of the units have been remodeled in the last couple of years.
They have added something new this year FREE beach lounge chairs which are very comfortable and FREE in room safes. The pool is heated to a very comfortable temperature, unlike some of the cold heated pools we have been to.
The maids made you feel like royalty on how clean the rooms are kept not to mention how clean the building and property is maintained. They allow pets only on the first two floors, we did not have any and the pets that were there were fine.
The other bonus is the location. This place is on the north end of the island which means no traffic. A short 10 minute walk to Times Square with many restaurants, gift shops and drinking establishments so there is no need to drive everywhere.
