TIMES SQUARE
by LoriPori
A great place to people watch and have a bite to eat is TIMES SQUARE. It used to be a street but is now blocked off to make it more user friendly. You would never know it was winter and January, as it was very busy here. Lots of folks out and about enjoying the warm sunshine. There are also a few beach shops here and I would think it would be a great spot to watch the sun go down in the evening.
There's not a lot of parking in the area. We parked near the pier and actually had to wait for someone to pull out to get a spot. the rates here were $1.00 an hour.
Sea Shell!!
by tpangelinan
Now we love to hunt for sea shells no matter where we go, but the Gulf always provide a good booty. the best island is Sanibel by far, then Captiva and Fort Myers Beach is not far behind. So bring your water shoes and look carefully along the waterline and you're bound to find some jems of your own. Happy hunting!
Harbor at Fort Myers Beach
by tpangelinan
This is another great photo op! If you take San Carlos over the bridge in to Fort Myers Beach, take a right then another and go under the bridge you can park there for a small fee and walk out to the intercoastal harbor for some great photos. If you're the adventure type you can walk up the bridge and take photos from the top of the bridge overlooking the harbor, very nice. I took this on the fly, we'll call it a drive by shooting. Don't try this at home folks or at least don't get in an accident trying.
A GREAT BEACH TOWN
by LoriPori
"FORT MYERS BEACH"
Hans and I came to FORT MYERS BEACH to visit a good friend of ours who has a condo here. She has been coming to this area for over 30 years and absolutely loves it here. And I can see why. this is a great Beach town. The beach is wide and has nice soft sand. There is lots of little shops and restaurants. This time of year it gets real busy here as Snowbirds and other "Northerners" come here to escape the cold weather. I actually found it too busy and congested at times.
Fishing at the Beach
by fisherbray
"Nice Bonnethead"
Got up early almost every morning and went fishing around the resort on Ft. Myers Beach. I used cut squid for bait since I was on vacation and did not bring my own gear. Caught a lot of snapper, small sharks, stingrays, catfish, and even a few red fish. This bonnethead shark was just one of six or so that I caught. They put up a very nice fight on light weight tackle.
"Tarpon and Mullet"
On this morning the big tarpon and occasional snook were charging in and out of a large school of mullet. Unfortunantly, they were not interested in my lures.
"Are You Excited?"
She was thrilled to catch her first snapper. It's small but at least she was not skunked!
"Up Early"
We got up early before sunrise to catch the morning run of snook.
