One Biiig fish "Why me"
We are planning a family trip to Fort Myers beach in July. We have never been there before - usually go to Destin / Panhandle area - and have heard that the water is brown and murky in FMB this time of year. I am all about the water and being used to the beautiful water in Destin, I am now worried that our whole vacation will be ruined because of ugly water. Should we go back to Destin again?? How bad is the water in FMB??

We have been to Fort. Meyers twice and esepecially last time in 2002 we thought the waters was really brown and murky. My kids almost only went swimming in the pool. We are going back to Florida next summer and are looking elsewhere this time. We were in Florida in July.

well not all of the beaches in fort myers are brown and nasty
There really is not dunes to speak of here but they do have dune grass that helps to protect the beaches so please obey the law. This does help and maybe our grandkids can enjoy the beach when they have kids too. Thank you!
Dockside Sports Pub is THE place to be if you need to catch your Cleveland Browns in a more public atmosphere. Catch all your favorite sports games on their many tv's, have some munchies and enjoy nice drink specials.
Located near Times Square, at 1130 First Street, Dockside Sports Pub is is a nice place to unwind.

I thought Fort Myers Beach was pretty average at best. The beaches are ok, but the sands are far whiter in St. Pete Beach, Naples and Siesta Key. The water is ok, but kind of murky because of the river run off, again much clearer in the above mentioned towns. The town of Fort Myers Beach has all of your typical tourist trap beach town ammenities. No existence of culture, mainly drinking, eating and beaching. If this is all you are after, you might enjoy this town. A bonus is that this town is less expensive then your average Florida beach town.
Fort Myers Beach is on the West Coast of Florida, on the Mexico Gulf.
After the sunrise of Miami we enjoyed the sunset on the sea.
We were in front of Sanibel Island, one of the Paradise places of Florida.
The beach is large and covered by a fine sand.
