More about Lighthouse Resort Inn and Suites

Fabulous Family Vacation

by A TripAdvisor Member

We went to Fort Myers Beach in July/04. We stayed at the Lighthouse Inn and Resorts. It was lovely. We had the top accomadation they offered. The deluxe queen suite. It was large and clean. With a beautiful view of the pool. The rate was very low due to the time of year. We booked far in advance and paid $95.00 a night WOW I believe the rate for our room in the busy season is $318.00 a night. If we went again to this area we would go again in the summer. It was not terribly crowded as I am told it is in the spring months. The weather was hot but with the beach a 3-5 minute walk from our hotel and 2 pools at the hotel we were fine. Plus the hotel's air conditioning worked great! I would definitely recommend our hotel to anyone. I do want to mention the highlight of our trip which will only interest you if you have teens. I have 2 sons 16 and 19 and we rented them and ourselves wave runners (jet skis). There are many places to rent them but I recommend the 2 hour dolphin tour with Island Beach Rentals. It is located right on Fort Myers Beach. It was a little over $300. dollars for 3 jet skis but it was amazing and worth every cent. We saw dolphins and manatees. Much better than a busy amusement park. My sons will never forget it.

Just what we hoped it would be!

We were looking for the quintessential Florida beach experience and found it at the Lighthouse Resort Inn and Suites. Currently under rennovation, parking was at a premium and there was quite a lot of noise when contruction crews arrived at work in the morning. That said, the exterior was beautiful -- crowded, but colorful and quite pleasant and very quaint. Rooms were simply appointed but large and comfortable. The pools were fun. The tiki bar was a blast. Service was great. And because most of the hotspots -- including restaurants and beach -- are within walking distance, this is an excellent choice for a short vacation. (The only negatives: some parking spaces are tight and maid service is almost nonexistent.)

Economical

We stayed at the Lighthouse Resort Inn at the end of September 2004. The folks at the front desk were very helpful and friendly. The pool nearest our room was the right size for the facility although for whatever reason attracted a lot of smokers and kept us from staying at the pool as long as we would have liked- perhaps designating one of the pools non-smoking would be an option? The hotel was under rennovation, but the area we were located was unaffected. This hotel has the potential for becoming a better hotel. It's almost as though previous guests had no regard for keeping the place nice. For instance, although our suite was clean and freshly painted, the overall appearance was "beat up" looking. The fresh paint had scuffs and marks and the carpet was fringed where the carpet joined the flooring (from a dog left alone in the room too long? Pet deposits for damage might improve this?). We had a non-smoking room, but there were cigarette burns in the bedspread. (Keep the linens separate?) The location was OK. Although not on the beach, the beach was a two minute walk away. Although I didn't care for Ft Myers Beach, the town is conveniently located halfway between Naples and Sanibel which I do love, so I might return sometime. The Lighthouse offered a lot of value- not bad if you're looking for an inexpensive place to stay, that offers a lot of space, clean and close to a beach along with the convenience of a little store, walking distance to restaurants.

Splash the cash and keep away from this dump

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed in the Lighthouse for a weekend in October. The room was not the best and thankfully the sun shone so we didn't have to spend much time there. It looked dirty and was in need of major refurbishment just to cover the holes in the wall, peeling paint work and old furniture. What made it worse was that we were recommended this hotel by a "friend". As some of the other reviewers said, the location is fantastic and is the only thing that redeems the hotel. However, the idea that it has recently been refurbished is a joke and gave me the best laugh in ages.

My recommendation is to splash the cash and get somewhere decent.

Had our wedding here

by A TripAdvisor Member

My husband and I have stayed here at least 2-3 times a year since 1999. We had our wedding reception at the Tiki bar here and everyone loved it. We were married on the beach here. All of our friends and realtives stayed here and thought it was great and very relaxing. The staff is like family and very helpful. They are always doing work to improve the place. I can't wait until we go again!!

Loved the Lighthouse Resort

by A TripAdvisor Member

Just got back from our two day stay at the Lighthouse Resort Inn and Suites on Ft. Myers Beach, Florida. We absolutely loved our stay. Here are the highlights...

Beach- Only 200 feet from the beach. Not a bad walk at all. You just walk across the street and the beach is right there.

Room- We stayed in the Junior Deluxe Suite #622 and were VERY impressed when we walked into our room. Everything was brand new- new stovetop, microwave, furniture, refrigerator, coach, dining room table, TVs in living room and bedroom. There were three spacious rooms in the suite. It like living in our apartment at home! The beds were soft and comfortable with two queen beds in the large bedroom. In total 6 people could sleep in the suite.

Staff- I cannot brag enough about the staff at the resort. My family and I stayed in Sanibel Island the week before and we arrived at the lighthouse resort at 8:45 a.m. Checkin is not until 3 p.m. The lady at the front desk had NO PROBLEM letting us check-in early. She just handed us our keys and showed us where our room was. Very friendly. The next day our flight didn't depart until later in the afternoon. Once again, I called to the front desk and they extended our check-out time 2 hours- at no extra cost! The also kept an eye on our luggage as we went out for a late lunch. The staff was wonderful and very friendly to work with.

Pool- There are two pools located on the resort. I only saw one b/c it was the one right by our suite. We had a view of the pool which was nice. It was an adequate size and was very well maintained. Plenty of chairs around the pool.

Tiki Bar- There is a HUGE tiki bar located right by the pool. They serve great food there at reasonable prices and serve great drinks. Music played at night from the bar but we are happy to report that we could not here it from our room in our suite. Didn't seem too happening...but there are many other places walking distance to get more lively entertainment.

Location- Like I said before...only 200 feet from the beach. Close to everything. Tons of shops to shop at and tons of restaraunts to eat at nearby. And it was so easy to find once you get over the bridge to the beach.

Whenever we come back to Ft. Myers beach we will definately be staying the Lighthouse Resort.

Conveniently Located

by A TripAdvisor Member

Hubby & I stayed here for a 3day weekend in an effeciency apartment, it was better than i had expected. We had full size oven and fridge and there was no extra charge for the micro-wave. If you want maid service you have to contact the front desk! if you want clean towels there's an area located near the Tiki bar where you drop off the dirty towels for clean ones. The 2 pools are small but adequate and Yes even on this beautiful Island at the Lighthouse pool you have pool hogs', (people who put their towels on the loungers, disappear for 2hours and get irate when they return to find their towel removed from their lounger? while you dare to enjoy a litttle pool time)The Lighthouse doesn't charge for the loungers unlike every Beach motel, hotel and resort. The rates at the Lighthouse are reasonable, the food and facilities are good, location even though not Beach front is perfect for Families, Young Married Couples, Wives who want to shop while the Husband has a drink at the Tiki bar and Grandparent's who enjoy spending time with their Grand-Children. Overall a nice affordable Ft. Myers beach spot, beach 200ft, restaurants aplenty and attractions i.e. Shell Factory, Edison & Ford Winter homes. If none of this appeals to you, there's a Bowling Alley about 1 mile away on the right side of the road as you leave Ft. Myers beach heading into Ft. Myers. No I don't have any connection with the Bowling alley, I'm just a Bowling, Beach Loving Babe!

Good Stay with two reservations

by TripAdvisor Member Daveman

We stayed for two days in late July. The room was a nice surprise. We had a full sized frig, stove, micro. The bathroom was off the kitchenette and clean as was the kitchenette. There was also a sitting room with a dining table and four chairs off the kitchenette that had a sleeper couch. The room had a tv and the then the bedroom had a tv and a small balcony that could easily seat three or four people.

Now the bad news! The room had a few cockroaches, and the pool next to our room was used by the kids till late at night and they can be noisy. A three dollar can of insect killer will do wonders for your stay. Do not get the idea we were overrun with bugs but they were there.

We liked the area and the hotel and are thinking of going back for a week next time.

Great location, but......

by A TripAdvisor Member

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for one night. We booked through Priceline and we were given an odd shaped room above the pool. The room was very narrow and in need of an update. The bath was small but functional (although the shower head was about to come out of the wall). The hotel seemed to also be an apartment complex as many of the "locals" at the pool and tiki bar seemed to know each other. The only redeeming point of the hotel was its location. It was located a short walk from the beach and several restaurants and bars. Not a bad place for families with kids but not recommended for couples looking for a quiet getaway.

Great location & very unique feel of the hotel

7) Good front desk staff and friendly housekeeper staff

8) Pricing was reasonable and worth it

9) Furnitures could use some update but clean

10) Nice huge bed which makes it comfortable

11) Prefer central a/c instead of window a/c

Great place overall--would love to return for a nice get-away
