SHRIMP BOATS
by LoriPori
Along the intercoastal side of Fort Meyers, you will find the SHRIMP BOATS. We went to a Seafood store to get some fresh jumbo shrimp and just behind the store were the boats. They were huge. Most were docked for the day already as they usually go out very early in the morning to get the day's catch.
TAKE A DRIVE TO NAPLES
by LoriPori
While in Fort Meyers, our friend suggested we take a drive to Naples, which is further south from Fort Meyers. What a beautiful town and posh. Everything there just shouts out money. From the beautiful, expensive homes to the ritzy downtown stores and restaurants. All streets are palm lined with manicured lawns and spectacular landscaping. The Vanderbilts have long lived here.
We went to see Naples Pier and some other sites in Naples and then went out for lunch at Red Lobster.
Matanzas Pass Wilderness Preserve

The Matanzass Pass Wilderness Preserve is a nice place for an evening walk. Boardwalks and paths take you through mangrove swamps to a pavilion overlooking the Estero Bay Aquatic Preserve.
When we were last there, we saw a variety of birds, including a woodpecker, and a pair of squirrels who'd taken up residence in a bird nesting box.
Ft. Myers Beach, FL
by LAGator
If you are in a hurry to get somewhere, don't go to Ft. Myers Beach. Really laid back, no hurry, you're on vacation type of atmostphere. Really nice. Lots of sights to see in the area both on the island (Estero) and in the Ft. Myers area. Take the island trolley that takes you from one end of the island to the other. Each time you get on it cost a whopping quarter. You can also take it to Lover's Key get off and get on a trolley that takes you to Bonita Springs for more shopping and sightseeing. Really had a wonderful time. Really good sunsets along the beach.
