weekend getaway
Not for families but might be great for adult weekend getaway. Right on the beach with a tiki bar. Free parking is minimal and not guaranteed to be available. If the bar is full plan ahead for paid parking.
The room was adequate but came up short on expectations for the price(non-smoking is a matter of opinion). If you are paying with a credit card be sure to check your receipt.

On the Ocean Front and Tiki Bar
There are many small hotels, motels, condos, and apartments along the Broadwalk. Although I just walked by it, the Riptide Patio Motel is near the Hollywood Beach Marriott and looked like an excellent alternative. Each of the 12 rooms has an ocean view and a full kitchen. Their online reviews by TripAdvisor, Yahoo Travel, etc. are so good that they even provide the links to them on their web page.
Unique Quality: The Riptide has a tiki bar and live entertainment on the weekends. One of the videoclips was taken while I was walking on the Broadwalk near the Riptide Patio Motel on a Friday evening.
