East Coast Hollywood
"Hollywood Beach"
This is Florida, not California. Hollywood is just south of Fort Lauderdale and north of Miami. It has six miles of coastline. Hollywood Beach is actually a 3-mile long barrier island that is just one block wide. The beach was nice and not too crowded. For some reason, in Sep 08 I did not see many people in the water though. Some think Hollywood may become South Florida's Next Great City. From what I saw, it definitely has the potential to do just that.
"Hollywood Broadwalk"
It really is Broadwalk and not boardwalk. There are no boards. The Broadwalk is 2.5 miles long and runs parallel to the beach. It was named one of America's top ten nostalgic promenades by USA Today. There is a paved path for bikes, trikes, surreys and rollerbladers, a crushed shell path for joggers, and a bricked path for pedestrians. The west side is lined with restaurants, shops, parks, hotels/motels, condos and apartments. One of the videos is while walking the Broadwalk near the Riptide Patio Motel on a Friday evening. It looked like parking could be an issue though, but I was mostly walking after parking at the hotel and really did not find out.
