A Wonderful Experience
We just got back from a 2 night stay at the Harrington House. What a wonderful experience! The beach is so quiet and private....pool is great. But it is the little things that set this place apart....towels, rafts, kayaks, beach chairs, extra suntan lotion, bicycles....even a stamp on the postcard they put in our room. The breakfast is great...relaxing and elegant. Can't say enough about the beauty of the rooms and the relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend spending time there. We'll be back!
Perfect Location on the Beach
We recently spent a Friday night at the Harrington House B&B, during a long weekend in Florida. We would definitely go back again. First the location was perfect, right on the beach. They had plenty of beach chairs. You could walk the beach in either direction for miles. Our breakfast was served outside around the pool and was delicious. Service at the HH B&B was excellent. We stayed in the main house (a balcony room). There are several room options to choose from. Close to several excellent restaurants. If you're looking for a quiet get-a-way, then this could be your answer.
Harrington House Great as Usual
We've been returning to Harrington House for five years, staying for the past three years in the Birdsong Room, immediately overlooking the Gulf, in the main house. Typical stays have been for 3 or 4 days, always outstanding. Immaculately kept, breakfast offerings that are imaginative and delicious, and convenient to excellent restaurants and leisure activities. The breakfast room has its tables laid out to encourage interactions (at your option) with other guests. The folks who run it are gracious and friendly. Next year (2009) we're considering staying for a month.

A delightful stay at the Harrington House B&B
Our recent stay at the Harrington House B&B in Holmes Beach, Florida, was wonderful. The owners and staff were extremely friendly and made us feel very welcome, and the breakfasts were delicious. The B&B has a wonderful location on the Gulf of Mexico and we enjoyed many walks on the beach, as well as several beautiful sunsets. It was truly one of the most relaxing vacations we have had in many years. This was our first time staying at the Harrington House. We enjoyed it so much, we have already booked a week for 2009.
The Perfect Beach Hideaway
This was our third trip to Harrington House and every time we go it keeps getting better. Our favorite room is Huth House #3. The beach is right outside the door. The huge Pines shade the patio, but when you want sun, it is only footsteps away. The completely modern bathroom has a huge 2 person shower along with a jacuzzi where you can look out over the ocean while still in the privacy of your room. There was a refrigerator in the room so we would pick up food for lunch on the patio. You can literally walk for miles on the beach. If you watch carefully, the dolphins will be
swimming along with you as you walk.
Breakfast is a real treat. While you can order almost anything you would like, there is a special every morning. My favorite was the spinach, bacon and mushroom omelet served with oatmeal
toast and fresh fruit. If you ever tire of the fantastic view, you can
always go for a bicycle ride (no charge for the bikes) around the island.
It has been great to find a quiet little island with no high rise chain
hotels. All of the restaurants are locally owned also. The Sandbar, just up the beach is a favorite of ours. Your table is literally right on the beach with live entertainment as you watch the sunset. We can promise you that the hospitality from Jo, Patty and Ann will make you feel at home, or make you wish you had a home like this!
This was our 1st B&B stay, and after reading all the reviews here, we felt very comfortable in selecting Harrington House. We reserved a room in the Main House. We knew going in that this is an older house. However, the room was quite nice, and very clean. There was convenient parking, wonderful landscaping, and a fantastic view. The beach location was great. If we tired of walking along the beach, or being in the water, we lounged on the chairs they provided, and watched the gulls, pelicans and other birds. We loved watching the waves, and hearing their relaxful sounds. The swimming pool, and deck area, were also very nice.
We chose to eat our breakfasts inside, since the early morning was a little on the chilly side. Each morning they had a special, and they were all great! If you wanted eggs, bacon, sausage, toast, or whatever instead, they were happy to fix that. There was also cold cereal. You won't go away hungry, because they ask if you would like something additional. They have coffee, juices, tea, etc to drink. The service was very friendly, and we enjoyed the conversations with the innkeeper, as well as with the other guests.
Anna Maria Island is very laid back. No high rises here. Many people walked, rode bikes, or took the free trolley. We ate at several restaurants, and would recommend the Sandbar and the Waterfront. We also enjoyed going to the Rod & Reel Pier and watching the fishermen clean their catch. Lunch here was also very good, and quite inexpensive. Overall, this was a great experience, and we can't wait to return.
Too good not to share
Warm welcoming decor and staff. Clean and very comfortable rooms. Breakfasts were more delicious each day. The sunsets and pelicans diving into the turquoise water kept us entertained each evening. Great area restaurants!
We needed an escape from both the cold winter and a time to recharge as a couple. Harrington House fit the bill. The beachfront location is lovely. Walked daily on the beach. The hosts were so accomodating, the property was so nice - attractive rooms and beautiful grounds. The breakfast special each morning was so delicious and eating on the patio overlooking the beach was delightful! We left rested and restored and our hosts were so helpful and accomodating! Holmes Beach is truly a bit of "old Florida!"
Harrington House is an exceptional and very romantic bed and breakfast - can't wait to return!!!!
3rd times a charm at the Harrington House
This was our 3rd time at the Harrington House. We love coming back. It is a lovely place, friendly and accomodating owners, great breakfasts, and you wake up right on the beach. It is one of our favorite spots for R&R.
We've stayed at alot of bed and breakfasts, but this definitely rates right up there!! The reception, facility, ambience, and atmosphere was fantastic. The staff knows when to attend and when to stay out of the way. It's beachfront with one of the most beautiful beaches around -- and we are veterans!! Go -- stay -- relax!! It's worth the money!!
