Hurricane Andrew
On August 24, 1992, the eye of Hurricane Andrew moved over the community of Homestead. Here Andrew hit with the most force destroying 90 percent of all houses. A reporter visiting the scene less than three hours later reported that not a house was left standing. Auto dealerships looked like aluminum recycling centers, new cars stacked like crushed cans. Check my Florida page for more information on Hurricane Andrew.
