IRB Christmas Lighted Boat Parade
by Ewingjr98
The Indian Rocks Beach Homeowners Association and the IRB Boat Club host the annual Indian Rocks Beach Lighted Boat Parade on the last Saturday before Christmas; in 2010 it was held on December 18th. This is one of IRB's best events. Prizes for the boats total nearly $3000.
The boats line up at 6:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Harbourside and at 7 p.m. proceed north. There is no registration fee for boats and no fee to watch!
Christmas in IRB
by Ewingjr98
One of the best things in Indian Rocks Beach at Christmas is the annual Lighted Boat Parade. It starts at the Holiday Inn Harbourside, then heads north under Indian Rocks Bridge and through the fingers of Indian Rocks, ending south of Belleair Causeway. The parade is usually held the Saturday before Christmas, starting at 7 p.m. Other nearby towns with Christmas boat parades include Lake Tarpon, Madeira Beach, Indian Shores and Redington Beaches.
We also enjoy the decorations on the telephone poles along the side of Gulf Boulevard.
Fantastic Place

We stayed at the Indian Rocks Beach Holiday Inn Harbourside from March 24-31, 2005. It was clean and beautiful. There was a live band every night until 10:00 pm. The staff was exceptionally courteous and responded to any of our questions or needs. I felt very safe there with my two children. The restaurant Jimmy Iguana's had a great selection. Everything we tried was very good. Two pools on site, tennis court, sand volleyball and playground on site, as well as the marina. We stayed in a room with two queen beds. It was clean and comfortable. In fact the most comfortable hotel bed I have ever slept on. My children said it was the best vacation they ever had. Close to Busch Gardens/Tampa Airport and not too far from Orlando. We would definitely go back to this hotel again!!!!!
Wonderful

Don't be put off - Having just returned from Holiday Inn Harbourside I would totally disagree with the last review. This hotel was WONDERFUL. It wasn't load and the food was excellent and very reasonably priced and we swam in the pool every day (I know we Yorkshire folk are hardy but it wasn't THAT cold!) . You did have to cross a busy road to the beach but it wasn't a dual carriage way or motorway and even with children we didn't find it a problem. Our suite did overlook the car park but it was huge and very well furnished. There were 2 excellent restaurants and live (appropriate) music We would give it 10 out of 10 and all I can say is there's no pleasing some people!
Excellent Choice!!

We just returned yesterday. We will definetely go back to Holiday Inn Harbourside. We travelled there by boat, rented a transient boat slip in advance by calling the Harbor Master -- Bob was really nice and helpful. We reserved the hotel thru the Holiday Inn website (you can ask for a military rate) and were upgraded to a suite with waterview, included two queen beds, a full sofa bed, two TVs, dinning table, full kitchen -- full refrigerator and even an oven -- all for $93 + taxes per night!!! If you go to the restaurant, you get free coffee to go. Also they bring you the newspaper to your door every morning. There are two pools: the main one next to the tiki bar is kind of crowded (a lot of little kids!), has mushroom fountains, pirate ship, mini slides and a waterfall. The other pool is smaller but quieter, has a small hot tub and is across the main entrance. The beach is nearby (about 5 mnts walk). We ate every night at Craby's Bill (on the way to the beach, next to CVS)-- you have to wait in line, but the prices and the food are worth every minute. We tried the hotel Jimmy Guana's for breakfast (we got free kids meal tickets), but we were not impressed. I believe next time we will try the Brewmaster Steakhouse, at the north side of the hotel. Great facilities!!!
Awesome Easter

We decided to visit Florida at Easter to avoid the summer storms and the heat of the Florida summer. We arrived during a storm which cleared up that day, we had sunshine then for the whole duration apart from one of those days when a gale warning was predicted, all we suffered was a few blown over flowerpots, I think we escaped the storms in this area as following a drive to Tarpon springs, the other side of clearwater we could see more storm damage.
We wanted a relaxing holiday near a beach and possiby near a few of the parks. Holiday Inn Harbourside is situated approx 200 yds away from the beach which is accessible via the main St Petes to Clearwater gulf road. Busch Gardens is about 45minutes drive to Tampa, Clearwater has a Marine Aquarium which cares for orphaned and sick animals such as Otters & dolphins which we all thoroughly enjoyed watching. Seaworld, another park we visited was about 80 miles away in Orlando and took around 2 hours to reach.
The room we had was a condo suite which consisted of 2 Queen sized beds in a large bedroom, large sized bathroom and a Kitchen/diner with an Island unit in the middle. The room would be spacious enough for most families. It was very clean, the maids made sure of this by spending at least half an hour a day cleaning each room.
The hotel pools were excellent, a large pool at the one end of the gounds with a waterfall and a ship for children to play in, the other pool, near the reception was a smaller pool which had had a hot tub next to it Free towels were provided everytime you used any of the pools.
Food was above average, at both Jimmy Guana's & The Brewmaster, we also tried the local restaurants such as JD's and the Italian restaurant, TJ's Italian Cafe about 20 minutes walk towards Clearwater, All food is good wherever you go and because tipping is part of a servers pay structure you will always have good service, in the two weeks we did not have a reason to complain.
Entertainment was also very good, Live Music every night including the Monday night when the only audience was myself & my wife, but the band still played on.
Overall I would say that we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and would highly recommend this hotel.
What a great place

We stayed there a few times when it was Hamlin's Landing and then again when they were taken over. Each time we had a wonderful holiday. We were always lucky enough to get bumped up to a suite with the cathedral ceiling and the jacuzzi bath. The unusual wood construction makes this a bit of a landmark on this coast. The swimming pools and Jimmy's complex make this a good hotel for the kids.
The Brewmaster was always fantastic value but we have have been less impressed in recent years and are not so keen to eat there. We choose 'Fathom' and 'Salt Rock' now.
The beach is rather course and made of shell rather than pure sand but this allows you to look for black sharks teeth which is perhaps the best manner of chillin out ever invented.
I can recommend this hotel and this wonderful coastline. I cannot agree that Clearwater is in the same league as this quaint rather refined florida resort.

Had a great week
by A TripAdvisor Member
We just spent a week at Indian Rocks. We were very pleased overall. We are a family of six (4 teens) and the chalet style room was very large and accomodated us well. Initially there was a problem because the one bed was a king only, but with additional roll outs it was fine. The room was very clean and housekeeping was very responsive to any additional requests. In fact the entire staff was very friendly and helpful. It was nice to have two restaurants on the premises both of which were very good. The pools were nice. Our only comment would be that the common areas, garage area and laundry facility could be a little better maintained. In the the laundry there were a couple of broken machines, as there were in the workout facility. We were there on a very busy week, though, so that may have been the problem. I would recommend this resort to anyone.
Great Location

Loved this hotel the food, staff, swimming pool, resort and location were excellent, when we arrived we were upgraded into a suite that was great for a young family. Looking to book this hotel again next year.
