My Husband and I are looking to stay for a week on Madeira beach at the 'Barefoot Beach resort' Please can anyone give me any information on this place? Is it a quiet place as we like to relax! Also are there enough restaurants and bars in Johns pass to keep us busy for a week? Are the restaurants and bars expensive? how much would a 3 course meal with drinks be? (Approx). I have read about the red tide that affects Florida and am wondering if this would affect us in Mid September? Have read about it and am worried it would spoil our holiday.
Thanks for ANY help and advice
I can't help you with info on the Barefoot resort but there must be plenty of reviews on travel sites including VT. Mid-September it should be quiet.
There are plenty of restaurants & especially if you have a car. Just a sample of Johns Pass information: http://www.johnspass.com/ and http://www.epinions.com/content_117286080132
Expensive is subjective so I included a lunch menu below for you to decide
One restaurant I like on the boardwalk is Scully's. Here's a sample lunch menu:
Raw Oysters on the Half Shell---Half Dozen 4.99 One Dozen 7.99
Warning: The eating of raw oysters can be harmful to your health.
Crispy Calamari with Pancetta Sauce, Basil Pesto and Shredded Parmesan 7.99
Hot Artichoke Cheese Dip with Tri-Color Tortilla Chips 5.99
Smoked Fish Spread with Jalapeño Peppers and Crackers 5.99
Crispy Fresh Mozzarella with Roasted Red Peppers, Julienne Basil and Tomato Coulis 5.99
Escargot in Brioche with Vermouth Cream Sauce 7.99
Panko Crusted Lump Crab Cake with Horseradish-Cayenne Aioli 6.99
Coconut Shrimp with Citrus Dipping Sauce 7.99
Lump Crab Stuffed Mushrooms with Garlic Cream and Madeira Wine Sauce 7.99
Other restaurant menus and reviews can be read here: http://www.beachdirectory.com/madeirabeach-restaurants.html
Is it possible that red tide could be an issue in Sept? Yes, it is possible. Is it predictable?-No it is not. There are too many variables including the hurricane season, etc. This past summer-fall there was very little red tide compared to the previous year.
Thankyou you have been very helpful
