More about Hampton Inn & Suites' Islamorada

Comfortable, spacious, friendly, consistent

by TripAdvisor Member hoteljunkies

We did not make reservations and just called from Key Largo to see if anything was available. There were 6 people in our group (4 adults and 2 small children), and we were expecting to have to rent 2 adjoining rooms, but the front desk set me up with a 2 bedroom suite with 2 bathrooms and a full small kitchen. That was exactly what we were looking for. We just wanted to spend the night on our way to Key West. We experienced great service while we were there. Everyone was really friendly to us, especially the front desk. It was a great value. Although the breakfast was more than a continental and less than a full buffet, it was adequate, and it saved us a lot of time and money for 6 people. It would be hard for me to promote this hotel as a "resort" but it actually has all the makings of one. I think had the road been farther away, and the property more larger, it may have felt like a real resort, even though that was not our purpose there. It had a well-groomed man-made "beach". Not really a beach, but some sand with palm trees and thatched umbrellas and chairs. Very relaxing, except for the road noise in the background. Believe it or not, this was actually one of the better "beachfront" setups I had found in the Keys. The Keys are not great for beaches, period, especially compared to Miami and other parts or Florida. I recommend this hotel, but know what to expect.

We loved it!

My family loved this hotel. We stayed in a two bedroom deluxe suite which gave us two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living area and a private patio with table and chairs right at the pool. The rooms were very spacious and while the kitchen area was a little small, it was nice having a full size fridge, stove and microwave. We just returned and we're already planning our next trip back.

really liked the location and Hotel

Spent four days here with friends from Canada , we are from Scotland we both loved the hotel and it surroundings We have never seen the atlantic Ocean as still as a mill pond with the moon reflecting on the water. Awonder ful situation
We stayed in a very spacious two bed roome suite with an ocean and pool view from our balcony If ever at the keys again will stay here, for longer if time allows

Spacious rooms, fell asleep in the hammock!

by TripAdvisor Member kpcloud9

Stayed here for my birthday in July. The rooms were spacious and clean. Hot breakfast buffet was very good. They have hammocks by the small canal in back of the hotel. Perfect for relaxing with your cocktail and drifting off to sleep like we did! Very pleased with the hotel experience.

They have an Outback Steakhouse on property which is great for drinks but I would be disappointed with anyone who would go to the Keys and eat at a chain rather than one of the FANTASTIC local restaurants. (You won't find many chains because of a law passed to prohibit them in order to preserve the small town atmosphere.) My favorites were Lazy Days and Morada Bay. Fantastic atmosphere and seafood very close to the hotel.

Great Hotel for Family!

by TripAdvisor Member KearneyTraveler

What a great hotel for a vacation in the Florida Keys! We stayed here December 21-22, 2005 and loved the facility. This hotel is in Islamorada - not quite 1/2 way down through the Florida Keys. It sits right on the ocean with a nice sand beach. (Although there is a sea wall along the ocean).

What we liked best was the room setup we had. I chose a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom suite. The price was great! We had 2 bedrooms, each with queen beds and a pull out couch in the family room. We also had a full kitchen and a dining area. The rooms were clean and we had lots of towels.
There is an Outback Steakhouse attached to the hotel. The Outback has a Tiki bar on the beach where we enjoyed dinner and tropical drinks. After dinner the kids swam in the pool, while we remained outside at the Tiki Bar, in full view of the pool.
The hotel also offers a free breakfast that was nice but nothing special. I would highly recommend this hotel for a home away from home in the Florida Keys.

Nothing bad to say!

This is the second time we've stayed at this property and we were more than satisfied again! Clean, great location, large rooms (we stayed in the 2 bedroom suite), beautiful grounds/views, onsite restaurant (Outback) and bar. We would definitely stay here again!

Very Nice Hotel, very resonably priced

by TripAdvisor Member Phylo82

Just returned after spending the MLK weekend in Islamorada.

The Hamton Inn and Suites is a very nice and resonably priced place to stay. I would recommend the pool side rooms. You can still see the ocean and you can walk right out to the pool, hot tub, bar, restraunt, etc.

We had six people (2 adults/ 4 kids) in our room. It was very spacious with two seperate bedrooms and a pull out couch. There is a small, but nice kitchen area and dining table. Wireless Internet access is available for free which is nice if you want to search for information about what to do in the Keys.

The pool and hot tub were clean and very nice. The beach area is nice, clean and very relaxing. There was one morning that the pool was full of debree from a late night rain. The staff had it cleaned up and ready for swimming by 8:30am.

Word of warning.....the hotels / resorts in the Keys do not supply your traditional beachfronts. If you are looking for long beaches and ocean waves stay in Miami. The Keys do offer beautiful ocean views and snorkling.

Other observations:

The onsite dining is an Outback Steakhouse. We ate lunch there most days because you could sit outside right by the pool/beach. The fresh catch was caught local and was very good.

Papa Joes (a mile down on the right) was very good but don't let the looks of the place deceive you....it is very expensive.

Jimmy Buffet's place in Key West is highly over-rated. The food was marginal and the price was high.

There are some fantastic boat cruises out of Key Largo. We took a glass bottom boat for a cruise out to the reef. It was a great time.

The buffet at Whale's Warf (ride hand side just before Hampton Inn) is good but pretty expensive if you have kids that are over 12 but don't eat enough to get $23.00 worth out of a buffet.

Too good to be a Hampton Inn!

by TripAdvisor Member DJC2006

We stayed at this hotel for one night and were very impressed with accomadation, service and price.

Located with own beach and Tiki bar, it provided a welcome relief from our long drive to Key West. Room was clean, w. balcony. Would stay again. It is hard to believe it's a Hampton Inn it's so good!

So sad to leave

by TripAdvisor Member arookie

My friend and I were driving down to the Keys and needed a place to stay since we didn’t want to drive any longer. We randomly called the Hampton Inn and they had a room for us. It was so great. Brian at the Front desk was super nice and helpful. The rooms are clean and spacious and reasonably priced given you’re in the Keys in March. The pool is awesome...clean, warm and refreshing, and you can view the sunset. A few feet away is a sandy, beachy area where the hotel has a couple hammocks and Adirondack chairs, in either sun or shade. We could not cancel our room in Key West which we reversed for the next 3 nights, but we really wanted to because we were so content in Islamorada. It turns were able to cancel the third night without penalty and we were so excited to jump back in the car and head back up to the Hampton Inn for our last night of vacation. Restaurants are in walking distance and the hotel has a Tiki bar with good Pina Coladas. The hotel is not fancy, but it has everything most people would need, and we can’t wait to go back!

Best in town

by TripAdvisor Member MMGT

The previous reviews are right. This hotel is the best game in town. Good rooms, good pool, good bar and good food along with reliable staff make this a great place to stop on your way to wherever else you are going.
