Best Western Oceanfront: Hotel
On our first time at the ocean. We stayed here. We drove up here and and rode around looking for hotels and picked this one. Mostly because they had rooms. The hotel wasn't bad. The room was nice with a big king size bed the we loved. The size of the room was ok since it was two adults and 3 kids. There was only one person on duty and we thought that she did ok. The breakfeast could have been better. But all in all it was a nice stay. I would recommend staying here.
One of the best things about the hotel is that it is right on the beach and within walking distance to a few resturants.

Amelia Island Plantation: Natural beauty and upscale pleasures by the beach
Nestled in the hardwood coastal hammock of Amelia Island on the ocean is the exclusive getaway that first put Amelia Island on the map as a playground for the rich and famous back in the 1970s. Amelia Island Plantation is a large destination area of its own covering much of the island's lower midsection. What really stands out about the grounds is its extensive network of bicycle and walking paths that lead through cleverly preserved pockets of woods and wetlands to connect all areas of the resort. Amenities include its own village of lakeside shops, top restaurants, beach activities, golf courses, a spa, nature views and trails, a small nature center, a chapel, a pool, tennis, and even a tennis stadium. I have never actually stayed here as a guest but have wandered through the trails and shopping village on occasion. It is a beautiful place to take a stroll. The shops are pricey but the grounds offer free parking and the network of pathways are available to non-guests.

Holiday Inn I - 95 Airport: Super nice Holiday Inn
This hotel was really nice. Super clean, they also have a breakfast buffet that was awesome, much better that Shoney's, and it was only $4.99 for all you could eat. There is always someone waiting to help you from luggage or just general directions. I give this place a A+
They do have an inside pool that flows to the outside pool area as well as a hot tub...The only thing I didn't like about it was that it was not private what so ever. The pool and hot tub is right there in the middle of the lobby area and not off more to itself. So anybody that walks in the door can see you.

Hilton Garden Inn Ponte Vedra Beach: Hilton Garden Inn - Ponte Vedra Beach
The Hilton Garden Inn (Formery Country Inn and Suites) in Ponte Vedra beach is located just off A1A and is right next to the PGA Sawgrass facility. It's a less expensive alternative to the Marriott resort at Sawgrass.
The hotel was renovated after Hilton aquired the property from Country Inn and Suites. They have a morning breakfast (continental), a Hot Tub and Pool that appear to be heated as I've used them year round.
There is a Bar/Restaurant attached but I don't believe it's owned by the hotel.
It's as close as you can get if you are playing at Sawgrass. St. Augustine is about 40 minutes south, Jacksonville Beach is about 10 minutes north, and Downtown Jacksonville is around 30 minutes north.
Insider Tip - Ask for one of the second floor rooms with a patio. The Patio's are huge and can easily accomodate four people. It's a great place to hang out and the price is no higher than a regular room.

Comfort Inn Oceanfront Jacksonville Beach: Family-friendly oceanfront hotel with a great pool
Want to watch the sunrise and rolling dolphins from the comfort of your own private oceanfront balcony? Want an awesome waterfall pool? Now, do you also want a family-friendly hotel on the ocean for a budget-friendly price? The Comfort Inn Oceanfront may be just the place for you to base your Jacksonville experience. It may not have cabana rentals, fine restaurants, or other elements of world-class luxury like One Ocean or the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club, but the Comfort Inn Oceanfront makes for a clean, comfortable and more reasonably priced alternative that is sure to enhance your visit.
The pool is one of the coolest in Greater Jacksonville, featuring three waterfalls that you can swim behind under the canopy of a faux cave.

One Ocean Resort & Spa: THE place to stay on the ocean
One Ocean Resort & Spa
Once the more modest Sea Turtle Inn, this landmark oceanfront hotelis located right on Atlantic Beach and just steps away from the many restaurants, shops, galleries, boutiques and nightspots that make up Beach Town Center. I think it is an ideal home base to plan your Jacksonville vacation around.
Inside, the lobby exudes an upscale sophistication with aqua accent tones. To enter the hotel's oceanfront restaurant, visitors must pass through a tunnel decorated to give the impression of being underwater. From a recreational standpoint, the hotel features an oceanfront pool and you can even rent beach umbrellas and beach chairs for the day to use at your leisure. Of course, rooms facing the ocean have nice private balconies on which you can sit and watch the waves while being rejouvenated by the refreshing seabreeze. The hotel also has its own spa. (Please note: I have stopped in this hotel many times, but have not actually stayed here).
In addition to the offerings right outside its doors, The Sea Turtle is just a bike ride away from the noteworthy dining, nightlife and special events of Jacksonville Beach and within a 15-30 minute drive of Adventure Landing water park, Mayport Ferry, the Talbot Islands Geoparks, Fort Caroline, shopping malls, movie megaplexes, golf courses, and the museums and attractions of Jacksonville's downtown riverfront.

Ponte Vedra Inn & Club: Jacksonville's 5-diamond rated oceanfront resort
This historic, ultra-chic oceanfront resort and spa straddles both sides of Ponte Vedra Blvd., Jacksonville's ritziest address. Here, guests can be pampered with spa treatments, hit the links on the resort's own pristine golf course, go for a refreshing swim in the pools, or enjoy a variety of other recreational activities like tennis, sailing, fishing, horeseback riding, or simply indulging in the beach life.
As for accommodations, guests can enjoy breathtaking panoramas of sand and surf from the private terraces of their oversized oceanfront rooms.
The resort also has its own collection of boutique shops, an award winning spa, upscale dining rooms that overlook the oceanfront and the golf course, a gourmet cafe, a swimsuit-friendly beachside cafe and various meeting rooms.
Also of note, at the very center of the resort grounds is a large, reddish roundabout flanked by a spectacular, giant fountain with alligators sculpted into its base.

I was a guest, so this was never revealed. The prices listed in the website seem rather reasonable for the service and ambience. The prices vary considerably based on the time of year and surrounding events. (from $150 - 450 quoted). Winter in northern Florida would be a crapshoot, but the prices are exceptional in December and January - if the weather is bad, there is plenty to do inside - check out the website for details.
This is more a resort destination hotel, with full services - pool, spa, golf, tennis, beach. The food is excellent in any of the restaurants or catered as many of our meals were handled. We did a 'clambake' there one night that was much more than a clambake - lobster, oysters, corn, clams (of course), crabs, and a bonfire with additional libation and food. The staff was uniformly excellent and amiable. The photo is from their website- they say it is sunset, but considering the ocean side is shown, and the front of the hotel is brightly illuminated, it almost has to be sunrise.

Just a standard motel, It was offering reduced rates that night, but it is very close to a sports bar, I forget the name - anyone help? We called in for a beer after the football game and had a brilliant night, everyone incredibly friendly, we stayed very late it was a good thing the motel was around thirty seconds wobble away! and we were to be at the airport early next day - ouch again! but a brilliant night sadly no photos
