Although it's hard to tell from this picture, Jacksonville's downtown buildings are characterized by bold neon sign which mark the company names. It reminded me of the skyline of some Asian cities I've seen.

I've just moved here and was wondering if there are any bars, clubs, taverns, etc. that allow smoking? Either in Jacksonville or St. Augustine?
Thank you!
In St. Augustine some bars are allowed smoking in downtown area.

Check out Cheers Bar & Grill on Wells Road in Orange Park. Generally bars can allow smoking if they do not meet a certain threshold in food sales, so small neighborhood pubs are probably what you are looking for.

little talbot island state park is located about 15 miles northeast of downtown jacksonville on US A1A. like big talbot island state park just to the north the park offers a beautiful unspoiled beach and hiking and wildlife watching opportunties.

As you go in you are shown the buffet area and you pick a selection of salad whereupon the waitress will take it from you and place it on a table of your choice. You then proceed to the hot menu and have a choice of meats. I chose roasted lamb with cream potatoes and vegetables. You may return for extra helpings of potatoes and vegetables at no extra cost. The food was excellent and will visit again should I be in the area.
This is a great little park tucked out of the way. Never been more than a few people here. nice walk the fort through the forest, and good view of the river once you get to the fort. My 6 year old nephew had a blast playing here.
I'm terrible, we drive all the way there, and I don't take any pictures! Except!, of a bridal shower, which doesn't quite depict Jacksonville so much. Anyway, we'll be back in June and I'll be sure to snap a few then.
What I can say is that Jacksonville seems to have grown a lot since the last time I was there. There are so many little areas and sections of the city to explore. The St. John's river is huge and powerful, the downtown area is grand and vast. There is a Five Points section, just like in Atlanta and an area called San Marco which seems to be up and coming with charming boutiques and bistros.
Our dear friends Heather & John live in a historic district of Jax. Just a block from the river. Beautiful homes, lovely shade trees and such. Give me a couple of months and I'll have pictures.
What I find amazing is that Jacksonville exists in the SAME state that West Palm Beach/Ft. Lauderdale/Miami do. The differences are astounding, the over all feeling, the people, the pace, the architecture, the weather. Contrasts abound. I want to give Jacksonville more of a chance, have more time to explore it. Until then...
