I apologize for the poor...

I apologize for the poor quality of the pictures on this page. This is just an shot of downtown as we were zipping across one of the bridges that spans the St. John's River. The river really adds to the physical beauty of the city as it curves around downtown and provides miles of waterfront that is perfect for strolling along.
Olustee Civil War Battlefield
by MatthewMetcalfe
There are not too many places in Florida that have Civil War battlefields. Olustee, about an hour west of Jacksonville off I-10 is one of them.
In this swampy florida battle, the Confederates soundly defeated the Union as they were heading inland from The coast.
Reenactments of the battle are performed every year. There is also a small museum a few cannon and some reconstructions on the battlefield.
The Park is just off I-10 and is a good place to stop if you are coming from or going to Jacksonville. It helps break up the monotony of the I-10 drive. We spent about an hour there walking around, reading the signs and such.
Relaxed Setting and Great Food!
by MatthewMetcalfe about Lulu's Waterfront Grill
Lulu's is a small restaurant that sits on the Intracoastal. Unlike some of the intracoastal you may have seen in the more southern parts of Florida, this is fairly undeveloped and provides a nice quiet backdrop to the standard high-traffic beach restaurants. The Boiled Shrimp are awesome especially with a Cold Beer. Lulu's has a full bar as well for non-beer drinkers.
They also offer a wide array of seafood and desserts.
Strolling the Southbank Riverwalk
by noidiotsplease
The best way to explore the Southbank Riverwalk is to park by the Wyndham Hotel near the eastern end of the Southbank Riverwalk. From here, walk the length of the Riverwalk, admiring changing perspectives of the skyline as you pass statues, riverboats, skyscrapers and fountains. The Riverwalk twists and turns, going under the Main St. Bridge before reaching Friendship Fountain, one of the largest self-contained fountains in the world; the Museum of Science & History, which has a planetarium; a small maritime museum; and River City Brewing Company, an upscale waterfront restaurant. (Ruth's Chris, Morton's of Chicago and Charthouse are 3 upscale national restaurants also located within a block of the Riverwalk). Of course, the Southbank Riverwalk is also accessible from the Northbank via water taxi, Skyway, or a cool walk over the Main Street Bridge.
