Jacksonville Jaguars: The city's most beloved team
by noidiotsplease
The Jaguars, Jacksonville's National Football League franchise, play 8 home regular season games and a couple of preseason games at Alltel Stadium from August - December. If you happen to be in town then, definitely see if you can get your hands on some tickets. I've been to several games including one playoff game over the past ten years and must say that it is a very exciting experience!
Jacksonville has developed a very efficient game day shuttle system using buses and water taxis to transport fans from key parking lots around the city to the stadium. It costs money, but you sure don't have to worry about any traffic.
So be sure to don your teal, black and gold, buy a foam finger and let the fun begin!
Good Indian Food
by yallpeoples about Bombay Tandoor Indian
The restaurant ain't much to look at, but inside they have good food and service. Since the inside of the restaurant is dim, it makes for a nice romantic dinner. The area looks deceivingly run down, but it isn't bad. Don't be scared. This isn't the Westside if you know what I mean. I had your typical tandoori chicken and it was very tasty. Since the restaurant is in a quiet location, I was able to have a nice dinner with my boyfriend. It was a sweet and romantic dinner.
More than just cheesecake
by noidiotsplease about The Cheesecake Factory
If you're a fan of The Cheesecake Factory then you''l want to be sure to check out the one in Jacksonville at the new St. Johns Town Center. More than a dessert place, The Cheesecake Factory is an upscale restaurant. Of course, as the name suggests, they also carry every kind of cheesecake you would want.
Spectacular illuminations come to life at night
by noidiotsplease
For years Jacksonville's Southbank has basked in the glow of Friendship Fountain's everchanging colors. Recently, the Main Street Bridge, a blue steel, vertical-lift draw bridge that arches next to Friendship Fountain, has been enhanced in a most unusual and beautiful way. Rather than sporting just standard streetlights the bridge is now equipped with an illumination system that causes the entire structure to actually glow a brilliant shade of blue. I'm not talking about twinkle lights or neon streaks -- the bridge literally glows! In addition, the bridge's two lift towers each sport illuminated representations of the American flag -- images that are completely invisible during the day. Make sure to check out the fountain and bridge -- a dynamic duo of illumination wonders -- the next time you're in town.
