The state and Coast Guard carried out a major renovation of the tower during 1999-2000, during which archaeologists discovered the light is built on a 14 foot tall Indian mound. In 2008, the light station and its surroundings were designated an Outstanding Natural Area, and in 2009 the lighthouse received $1 million in federal stimulus funding, roughly half for lighthouse maintenance and improvements and half for habitat restoration in the natural area.

Just 30 minutes away from where I lived.
Just beautiful......one of those places where you forget about problems and you can enjoy living....It is perfect ... the wind, the sound of the weaves, the sand .... a could stay there for hours......
I'm going to Jupiter within the next couple of months. It'll be interesting to find out whether there's any cultural points of interest & museums etc...to learn more about the history of the area etc.
But I'm also going for fun. I've close family living there so I'm looking forward to sampling a bit of night life too :)
