Its not Floridian Sand!
Because of the nature of the current and structure of the Florida Keys, most of the sand that you find on the beaches here is actually imported from the Caribbean!! Wonderfully tropical warm weather and great sunsets!

Has anyone heard of the Dream Bay Resort in Key Largo, there are no reviews other then on their website and I have a terrible feeling it is a trailer camp
Hello and welcome to VT.
I wonder if you saw the replies to your question on Tripadvisor posted earlier this year( asssuming you are the same yummymummy2 - Apols if not).
Those replies did not add up to a favourable or positive view of the place.

So maybe your hunch is right. Perhaps safer to look for another resort?
Best of luck.

While in the Keys you'll at some point be drawn to John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.
Plan on getting there early and booking a trip out on a charter to snorkle or scuba dive.
You will be overwhelmed with the tourists who will really annoy you. Even if you are one.
Make sure you go on a charter as the immediate area is disgusting and we skipped it as an option to snorkle and dive.
Even too gross to kayak.
Just the way the seaweed grows, but who do that when an hour boat ride will get you to some amazing dives. http://www.pennekamppark.com/about_activities.html
If you are looking for a beach you have come to the wrong place! The beaches are not what you expect for Florida. No white soft sand , no long walks on beach they are not big enough. Most of them are just a spit of sand . The best one we found was in Key West
SMATHERS BEACH
Location: south side of Key West on South Roosevelt Blvd.
We had wanted to go to FORT JEFFERSON - DRY TORTUGAS
but the rain didn't permit us to. We were told this is the place to find the beaches.
Dry Tortugas, about 68 miles from Key West. The Dry Tortugas are part of the National Park system and can only be accessed by boat or sea plane.
water shoes - to protect from urchins, rocks etc. I take my regular 35mm, and a couple of underwater disposible cameras. I nearly always use 800 or higher film. It works well outside and in. To get pictures for the computer, I just order a CD of my photos when I get them developed. snorkel/dive gear
This place has been there a long time. Kinda crowded, but neat. Have a few tables outside if you so desire Lots & lots of choices! Makes you want one of everything! Have nightly specials also. Even burgers and things for the meat & potato lovers. We stuck to seafood. Scallops & fresh fish, which were excellent. Baked potato left a little to be desired, but then you can't get a good baked potato very often anymore.

A: "John Pennekamp is actually in Key Largo while Bahia Honda is quite a bit further south, on the way to Key West - over an hour with good traffic. Depends on who you talk..."
