More about Andrews Inn and Garden Cottages
We stayed in the Roma suite at the Inn from January 20 to January 27, 2007. The room was spacious for a B&B and included a TV, fridge, wireless internet, hair dryer and an iron so we had everything we needed for the week.
The staff at the Inn is extremely friendly. Jorge, is kind of the concierge, front desk, emergency contact, etc. He is always available and is a wealth of information for dining and sightseeing. Jorge is an invaluable part of this property and is a big reason we would return.
The continental breakfast, which is included in the price, has good selections and is ready by a little after 8:00 each day. One of the nicest parts of staying at the Inn was walking 20 yards, in your PJ’s, to your breakfast. We ate there everyday in the beautiful courtyard.
They also have a happy hour at 4:00 each day. We were usually out, but the few times we were around they had a good selection of hard liquor and beer.
The only downside would be the location of our bathroom. It is close to the office, the pool, and your neighbors have two seats and a table right outside your window. Unfortunately during our stay, our neighbors were chain smokers. We had to keep the bathroom door closed some times to contain the smoke smell. Once the neighbors left, we had no problems. The Roma suite itself is a bit more private than most and faces away from the courtyard. It had a nice porch with two chairs and a table.
The location is wonderful. You are a few minutes from the Southernmost point, but only a 15 to 20 minute walk to Mallory Square. By being farther south, you are also more insulated from the cruise ship crowd.
We would definitely return again!
My husband, sister, brother-on-law & I stayed at the Andrews
Inn's Sailor House Cottage for two nights in March, 2007. We loved the location and with 2 bedrooms & 1 & 1/2 baths (1/2 bath outside by jacuzzi) it had plenty of room for the 4 of us.
There were balconies off each bedroom, one actually a sundeck which was great for soaking up the Key West sunshine. The place could have been cleaner and could also use some updated sofas, carpeting, accessories etc. The kitchen was well stocked with everything needed to cook which we did not require for our short stay but would be an advantage for those desiring to do so. One caution, the street is one way for one block coming off Truman Ave. & then turns into two way just before the cottage. We parked on the shoulder in front of the house but didn't realize we had parked facing the wrong way & woke up to a $35.00 parking ticket. It would have been nice if they would give you a warning first so you could have a chance to turn your car around. This is an older conch house and has such interesting architecture but is definitely in need of a good sprucing up. The number one feature of the Sailor House is the total privacy it affords you.
We spent one night here, wish it could have been a week. From the moment we called to make the reservation until we sadly left we had nothing but excellent service. Tom was very helpful advising about the town, things to see and do. Our room Valenzia opened onto a shared but large deck which led to the pool and courtyard. The Inn's location is at the far end of Duval but that was great. It was the perfect length of walk down to Mallory Square and back, enjoying the restaurants and shops and watching the world go by,.. plus carrying a drink along the way! I think it is probably a much quieter neighbourhood than closer to the "action". We could hear sirens in the distance throughout the night. As the Inn is next door to Hemingway's home we had a number of cats visiting. We were pleasantly surprised to open the door and find our table set for breakfast, we were sorry to miss the afternoon happy hour. We would happily visit here again and recommend it highly.
More than we expected!!
We stayed in the Roma for 3 nights. The room, grounds, staff, just everthing was wonderful. Everyone makes you feel right at home. The virtual tour is exactly that - virtual.
Perfect place, great staff
Just returned from a 4-night stay at the Andrews Inn after reading recommendations here. We stayed in the Pamploma room which was very nice with a comfortable bed. Everything perfectly clean and in good working order. The Inn is close to everything except the noise. We walked everywhere, even brought back wine, cheese and crackers to store in the room's fridge to enjoy later on our hidden balcony overlooking Hemingway's pool. Loved having morning coffee and afternoon cocktails by the pool. Jorge was helpful, friendly and always in a great mood. Luc and Blanche also were much appreciated. The staff there really make the place shine. We look forward to returning there every year.
Cannot WAIT to go back.........
Where do I begin??? We had the best vacation ever at Andrews Inn! We went for 10 days for our 10 year anniversary, and had the opportunity to stay in 2 rooms at Andrews.
We started in the Treetop Suite. This is on the 2nd floor of an Eyebrow house on Olivia, just across Duval from the Inn. I could live here! It was large, and airy, and the deck was to die for! You cannot beat this spot for romance and privacy. The kitchenette was great to have for a few days. And the outdoor shower rocked! We mad use of the deck and jacuzzi every night!
The last half was in the Pamplona room at the Inn. Although much smaller, it was still a great room. We loved having a king size bed (the Treetop has a queen). And the view of Hemingway's pool was gorgeous. We liked being right upstairs from the pool. And I totally enjoyed my morning hour by the pool. The company of the cats was a big bonus too :)
The service outstanding. Kudos to Tom, Jorge, Blanche, Martin and Luc. They really make this place wonderful. We cannot wait to return!
Relaxing in Key West
My boyfriend and I were looking for a place to kick back for three days in Key West for the fourth of July. The weather was hot, but the inn was lovely. We staying in "Paris"--cute, clean, AC blasting. :) Tom and Jorge were helpful and accomidating with bookings for resturants, activities, etc; Don't miss happy hour at 4pm. It's a lovely time to not only get a cocktail, but meet the other nice folk staying at the inn.
I guess one thing to note is that it is a good ways down from Mallory Square and all the action on Duval. It retrospect we might have wanted to stay a little closer, but it's truly a lovely stay at Andrews.
Andrews Inn - Absolutely great place to stay!!
My boyfriend and I just got back from our first trip to Key West from 7/17 to 7/22, and so wish how it could have been longer. I booked Andrews Inn because of all the positive reviews on TripAdvisor and can't say enough about the place myself. We stayed in the Roma room which is a little more private than the rest of the rooms. It has a king size bed and is a very clean room, as is the entire Inn. The continental breakfast in the morning gave us a chance to meet new people, as did the afternoon cocktails. We met Jorge and Blanche as soon as we arrived and they were so helpful and ready to help in any way. Jorge always has a smile and always ready to help in any way. We also met the owner, Nancy and Luc who were equally as nice and helpful. It's a little further down on a little lane off of Duval, but that was fine for us. Gave us the chance to walk off the calories from all the great places that we ate at. It was also a little bit quieter at night away from the loud bars. Jorge gave us advice on places to eat and I will say, listen to him, because he knows what he's talking about. Both times he was right on the money with Cafe Sole and Blue Heaven. We were both sad to leave, but already decided that we'll be returning, hopefully in the near future, and we will definitely be staying at Andrews Inn. Thank you for a great first stay in Key West!!
Could be wonderful for Honeymooners
A great spot for couples (Sorry, no children) A good breakfast by the pool is included, and the late afternoon complimentary cocktail party makes the stay most enjoyable. a medium walk from the center of activities in Key West, but they have bicycles for guests. The rooms back u p to a very historical building - Hemingway's home!
great place, great people
they say it's not the heat, it's the humidity...well, in the case of this review, it's not just the place, it's the people that make it what it is....andrews inn and garden cottages are beautiful and well appointed in that they don't make you lose the flavor of key west, while giving you nice amenities and creature comforts. located just off of duval street, and literally in ernest hemmingway's backyard, the spot is ideal; but it's the owners and staff that make this a great place to stay...friendly and helpful, tom the owner was great, and his staff, jorge and martin were just the best, and are truly suited to thier jobs....they have the personalities for the job, and you can tell that they love what they do....if you want to enjoy key west and immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and flavors, try this place out...you won't be dissapointed....
