DISAPPOINTED

Extremely disappointed in this place. Beware of hidden fees! and the owners "were out of town" and couldn't resolve the issue. I can not believe how dishonest this place is! tiny rooms! shared bathrooms!

Unique Quality: dishonest! tiny rooms! shared bathrooms!

Angelina's Guesthouse

We have stayed there a couple of times and are staying there again in May. That is the best place to stay. You feel like you are in paradise and the owners make you feel at home. This is the only place we will stay when in Key West.

Unique Quality: We love the pool, the breakfast and the peace and quiet.

Charming central B&B

The Angelina is defintiely a nice option. It's affordable, clean, and charming. The rooms are very nice and do not include a phone or a TV, which is in my opinion a plus. This forces you to go out and enjoy KW.

The only inconvenient is the possibly loud other guests, which is what happened to us. The rule is silence from 10pm to 8am. So at 9am we were woken up by our neighbors, who were probably speaking just normally but the houses are just not built sound proof. And when you enjoyed the local bars the previous night until 4am, you just don't appreciate loud noise so 'early'. I'll actually go back to the Angelina next time, but this time I'll go to bed a bit earlier!

Unique Quality: The Angelina is centrally located yet far away from the noise. It's one of the rare B&Bs in Key West which is very nicely and tastefully decorated. The pool area, even if small is very nice and open 24 hours which allows to go for a dip whenever you come back from barhopping.

More about Angelina Guest House

A+ for Angelina House

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at the Angelina House during Christmas week and found our hosts, Kevin and Janet, to be wonderfully helpful and down to earth.
They gave all kinds of advice on places to eat as well as fun places for entertainment. Our room was spotless and cheerful. The pool was kept at a comfortable 94 degrees and was surrounded by beautiful tropical landscaping. This place is great for families on a budget, but be advised there is no phone or TV in rooms. Angelina House is located far enough away from the bustle of Duval Street, yet it is a short walk to any place you'd like to go. A car was not needed during our entire stay. A return visit would feel like visiting old friends.

Wow!!!

I don't know where to start! The Angelina was the best place I've ever stayed! The room was bright and beautiful and VERY CLEAN! We were catered to like we were in a 5 star resort. Bob, Janet, and Kevin went out of their way to make us have the best vacation of our lives!

incredible for the money

We stayed in november with our entire wedding party. Janet and kevin were incredible. They set up a fantastic buffet for 50 people. My wife and I cant say enough about the clean rooms, wonderful pool area, or the charming southern hospitality. Also if you stay you must go to Blue Heaven, It is a breakfast joint that is a key west original. Do not be weary about the price, there is so much to do in key west save your money on the hotel! email us if you have any questions

Casual and friendly

I treated my parents to two days in Key West and we all enjoyed The Angelina. As many people have said, the owners are terrific, the hotel is clean, and the small courtyard and pool are charming.

We stayed in the modern two-story addition, which has four rooms. They are larger and sunnier than those in the original house. Our room turned out to be handicapped accessible with a ramp leading from Thomas Street, wide doorways, bars in the bathroom, and a large shower that you can walk right into. To get to the courtyard/pool/and rest of the B&B however, you will have to negotiate steps.

I love the porches that look out on Thomas Street. My dad could sit there for hours watching the tourists and locals go by, and my mom liked reading her books out there.

OK at best

Stayed 4 nights at the end of January, 2004. My wife and I have stayed at a couple of dozen B&B's over the last several years. I think we know what a good B&B is. Angelina House is NOT a good B&B if you consider price vs. accommodations.

The good - The room was clean but small. The yard with the swimming pool was very nice.

The bad - The breakfast was sparce and atrocious. Cinnamon rolls, some very small store-bought-once-frozen muffins, apples, bananas, OJ and coffee - THAT'S ALL! And, it was the same every morning! Their signature home-made Cinnamon roll is almost inedible. It's nothing more than heavy gobs of dough. The breakfast is placed (serve yourself) in a very small room and there isn't really even a place to sit and eat. OJ was OK, coffee was bad. Fortunately, there is a wonderful French Bakery a couple of blocks away on Duval St. After eating at Angelina once, we ate the other days at the French Bakery.

We'll look for another place to stay on our next trip to Key west.

Just a terrific time!

If you want the flavor of Key West, some really personalized attention and are not hung up on ultra-fancy digs, this is the place for you.
Years ago, it was a brothel, and so each room has a little plaque proclaiming the name of a girl who called it home way back then. The rooms and bathrooms are not large but they are comfortable and ultra-clean. The mattress was a bit soft and squishy for our taste, but that really was a minor matter. There is a very nice, secluded, heated pool, but no whirlpool. The owners are clearly in love with Key West and go out of their way to share their enthusiasms with you. For example, if you ask, you'll be treated to detailed restaurant reviews which make choosing a site for dinner much easier. We also found the prices at the Angelina to be quite reasonable by Key West's inflation-riddled standards. when you add in the personalized attention, the place is a bargain. We'd go back in a heartbeat.

Fabulous Vacation

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at The Angelina Guesthouse from March 28 thru April 2, 2004, our first time to Key West was most exhilarating. It was a peaceful vacation, both Kevin and Jan greeted us with open arms. The Guesthouse was a wonderful place for relaxation and had a delicious breakfast. We will definitely come back, we recommend The Angelina Guesthouse to everyone who visits Key West.

Wonderful hosts, some rooms better than others

by A TripAdvisor Member

My wife and I stayed in Key West for three nights and choose Angelina based on the reviews I read here. As others have mentioned, the hosts are remarkable, friendly, and very accomodating. They offered to call tours for us to find out details, so that we wouldn't have to spend our vacation doing it. We stayed in a very small room on the first floor (#11), and were regularly awoken during the night and early morning by passing buses "and perhaps heavy machinery?" I would recommend a room on the second floor, which I checked out while there. The breakfast is sparse, and the pool small- but I would stay there again without hesitation. There was a very friendly vibe, and the setting is quite restful.
