More about Azul Key West
Would stay here again in a heartbeat!!
Even though its been 2 yrs since our stay here, I had to write and say how WONDERFUL everything was. THe breakfast was excellant, rooms immaculate, and I loved the BIRDS, (being a bird lover myself). The hosts were more than willing to sit and chat and offer advise, recommendations. Loved it!!
We stayed at the Lighbourn Inn for three nights during President's week. We fell in love with the room and the inn immediately. We had a "veranda room," which shared a private porch with our friends who had the other veranda room. It was nice sitting out there for a relaxing glass of wine before dinner. Kelly and Scott were wonderful hosts, and spent a lot of time chatting with us. They never made us feel like they were in a hurry or too busy to spend time with us. We were just three blocks off of Duval street and walked almost everywhere, even though we had a car parked out front. I would definitely stay there again if we return to Key
Lovely Inn, but a little noisy
We stayed for one night in a very nice side facing room with a shared balcony over the front of the hotel. Only complaint was that it~s a little noisy - even though away from the main revellers, there~s a fair bit of noise on the street and of course a few cockerels....
breakfast was pretty good - outside in the courtyard.
very small but nice looking pool
We stayed there for a week for our honeymoon and could not have asked for a more wonderful experience. The owners are so friendly and helpful, the breakfast is very good (and homemade), housekeeping was immaculate, and the house and garden itself are absolutely beautiful. We'll stay there again for sure!!!

Lovely but not perfect
My husband and I stayed at the Azul on our first visit back to Key West in 12 years. We'd been frequent visitors to Key West before we had kids, and a lot of the places we'd stayed in those years are still around, but we were wary of what Duval Street may have turned into in those intervening years, so we wanted to try something different, far away from the touristy sunset side of Duval. The Azul turned out to be a great location for a more urban Key West experience. It was great to have a little liquor store with a good wine selection just down the street, and a small grocery around the corner, and a bar nearby where locals hang out late at night (rather than tourists). And the vibe is more stylish and hip (yet in a relaxed way) than the usual tropical atmosphere at a lot of Key West inns.
We stayed in the Aria Suite, which was as beautiful as the photos on the web site. The private balcony was great, and the view was gorgeous, especially at dusk. The shower/bath was painful, in that the picturesque angled ceiling is quite low right behind your head if you're showering, and the water pressure can be zero if others at the inn are showering at the same time. The owners are aware of this and do have notes recommending a bath over a shower. Loved the little window in the bathroom though.
Overall the Azul atmosphere is quietly attractive. The owners have paid attention to details, leaving the original architecture and adding modern touches in the furnishings and art. We'd go back, but maybe not splurge on the Aria suite next time.
Pleasant Stay at Azul
We just returned from our 3 night stay at the Azul in Key West. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay - the room (Fuente) was lovely complete with flat panel TV, Aveda bath products and a super comfy bed. We only have a few suggestions for the Azul - the water pressure and temperature of the shower needs to be improved. Both my mother and I could not have a decent warm shower while we were there. Also, we found the breakfast tasty, but needed to be varied as the breakfasts became a bit too routined. In addition, it would have been nice to have small snack "bar" set up in the afternoon complete with lemonade, iced tea, fresh fruit & cookies. Also, a couple of the other B&B's we've been to, provide various sunscreens/products by the pool. The owners suggested the Danger Eco-Tour to us - which we absolutely LOVED!! It was a great all-day excursion; a definite must to all visitors! In all, I would recommend this B&B to everyone as it was well worth the trip.
My husband and I vacationed in Key West for 3 days and stayed at Azul. We had a delightful stay at the small hotel as the rooms, linens, staff, and refreshments were wonderful in all ways. As Key West can be a busy and crazy place, it was so pleasant to come back to Azul after a day of beaching, biking, and touring. The pool was a quiet place to be for reading and relaxing while sipping on a beverage of your choice. Breakfast always had an abundance of fresh fruit, juice, cereal and toast. The property is exceptionally clean and well cared for by John and his staff. Part of me wants to keep Azul a secret but.... enjoy it as soon as you can!
We spent 4 nights at Azul (5/2-5/6) and LOVED it. The location was perfect. We were far enough away from things so it was very peaceful (couldn't even tell we were on a main road), yet close enough where we could walk everywhere in 20 minutes or less. The room was a little small, but it is an old home so it was to be expected. Other than the size, it was great. Breakfast every morning was fresh fruit, fresh bread, yogurt, eggs, coffee, tea and juice, it was perfect and we loved dining out on the deck. The pool was nice to have, it was HOT while we were there. Dominick and his staff were very nice and helpful. We would definitely stay again and recommend it to anyone who needs some relaxing time away!!
