"Stay in Key West Like a Native"

Coutney's motto is "Stay in Key West like a native." This is a very acurate description of what your stay might be like. We certainly felt that way! Upon first arriving, you go through a cute little gate house that opens up into the pool (VERY small) and courtyard (beautiful) area. We were immediately greeted by some friendly folks lounging around the pool...so friendly and welcoming, we thought they might be the owners, but no, they were other guests. That was our experience all four days we were there...it was a great place to meet others and share your daily Key West adventures. As for the facilities (at least our room and some of the other public areas), I must admit they were a bit "worn," but that is sort of like Key West itself. Everything in our room and balcony area was clean, so there are no complaints here. Our only complaint was regarding the service from the young woman who seemed to be "running" the place during business hours. She was definitely more interested in visiting with a friend who was there on a daily basis and staying "holed up" in a very cluttered office while doing something on the computer, than in dealing with her guests. If you did need something, and had to ask her a question, you were treated as if you were intruding. Personally, I don't see how people who are in a service industry don't see how their attitude towards people is a reflection on their business. Dealing with this woman was the only negative about staying at Courtney's Place. If you are used to staying at the large chains or prefer a "luxury" experience, this wouldn't be the place for you. However, if you like to get a feel for the area you're visiting and enjoy meeting people in a casual and relaxed setting, then this is the place for you!

Unique Quality: As I mentioned, the whole place is very quaint...very small pool with lots of steps/seats for just cooling off, bikes available on property for rental, cats, birds, and possibly other guests' dogs (if you're an animal lover and can't bring your own pet, you will still get your fix of furry companionship).
