Incredible place

My husband and I spent 7 days at the Hyatt Beach House in Key West. We just arived home yesterday and decided if there was a place to retire to this would be it! We loved everything about the place. It is at the northern end of KW so out of the noise and hussle of the town. The ONLY negative is that there is no shuttle to Duval/Old Town from here. If you want to cross the busy highway and walk about 3 or 4 blocks you can pick up the Old Town Trolly or Conch Train or the Bone Island Shuttle to get into "town". This was really not a big deal because when you stay at the Beach House you can use all the facilities of the Hyatt on Front Street (2 blocks from town!) You can park in their lot and pay a daily fee $12 or eat at the restaurant Nichola's and park for free with your ticket validation. The rooms were wonderful and included a 2 person whirlpool tub in the master suite! The deck off the living room area was so comfy and peacefull. This overlooked the pool area and also gave a good view out over the water. The place was spotless and since we stayed a week, the housekeeping "freshened" the place mid-week. It seemed to be cleaned completely in my opinion. Plenty of beach towels in the rooms so you don't have to lug your own down there. There is no restaurant on the premisis but there are sooooooo many around you really don't miss it. There is a Tiki Hut by the pool for drinks during the day and they usually have a special 2 for $8! Very good drinks too! The pool is so nice because it goes from 1 inch to 4 feet deep. NO diving but we were there to relax and that's what you can do at this hotel!

A nice place.

We just got back last week from a seven night stay. We researched this property for 4 months and had to choose from the Ocean Key or the Haytt Beach House Resort. We took the Hyatt for the size of the rooms and the savings in cost. The place is very nice and clean but is fighting a loosing battle. With a small staff set for time share guests and selling rooms on the internet as a hotel it conflicts with peoples expectations on how this property should be run. We did get our room through Orbits and had it cleaned every day, I did watch the pool area get cleaned every morning at 8: am but it lacked control after the front desk closed. I had called the security on our 6th night for a party of kids and watched him try to manage this problem and our 7th night the kids took the party indoors and held out till 5:45 am, it was a loosing battle and the morning staff had no comment or help. Speaking to one employee, he had commented that they were all having problems with the amount of guests and the small staff. We did not mind the distance from old town because we rented a car and liked the fact we could leave the crazy area at night and head back to a quiet area to rest. You can get all your tickets here for rides and museums and the little bar by the pool is great, friendly, and very helpful. The margarita party is ok but not worth one hour of your time and the orientation breakfast is helpful in getting to know the facility. The units are a little too close to A1A and you can here the traffic from the pool + a great view of the prison if you look to the right side across the Gulf. No real beach to speak of but you can get in the Gulf from the sandy access. Boat rental is on the prop. along with water sports at the Holiday Inn next door. The place is good for first timers to get a feel for the island but we think next time we will look to rent at the Truman Annex it looks beautiful and quiet.

Unique Quality: Pool is the best, out side bar open from 10 to 5pm and the view in the back of the property is nice. Rooms are very big and the master bedroom is great. ( 2 bedrooms - two bathrooms and three TVs )

Key West at Christmas

"Hyatt Beach House Resort"

The Hyatt Beach House Resort was a great place to return to each evening. Since it is basically set up for time share use, it is all suites. We had a two BR suite with living room, dining room and screen-in porch. The pool was nice, but no real beach. We cooked a few meals here, but generally ate out. The town is great for people watching; good for kids, too. If you visit, be sure to eat brunch or breakfast at Blue Heaven in town. What a great atmosphere!

Incredible sunsets!

"Key West Beach"

We really enjoyed this beach near the airport in Key West.

Hyatt Beach House Resort

My wife and I are thinking about exchanging a time share for one in Key West. We are thinking about using the Hyatt Beach House Resort. Has anyone stayed there recently who would be willing to tell us what it was like?

We didn't stay there, but we did stay at the Hyatt Windward Pointe - the Hyatt Beach House looks comparable (we know because we managed to get lost finding Windward Pointe and wound up at Beach House for directions). Anyway Windward Pointe was GREAT, the two bedroom unit that we had was beautiful. Very clean, lovely pool, nice ocean view from private balcony. Sometimes the pictures on the company web sites are not representative, but our experience was everything the pictures implied. I can't say enough good things about it - it was very close to the airport which we liked as husband enjoys aviation, but might not be for everyone. My husband and kids (19 & 20 at the time) and I agree it was the best Florida vacation we've ever had. If you like to jet ski take the ski tour that leaves from the pier downtown where the cruise ships come in by Mallory square, they have great equipment - believe me we gave it a run - and offer a guided tour all around the island. Husband and 'motor head' son got to do their thing, see comment re equipment, and daughter and I went at our own pace but they managed to keep track of us all and everyone had a good time and got to see the whole island from the water. Blue Heaven is a great place for breakfast - kids loved the resident chickens. The snorkel boat from the same pier is also a good time. Definitely use one of the Hyatts - you won't regret it. Libbie
