We just got back last week from a seven night stay. We researched this property for 4 months and had to choose from the Ocean Key or the Haytt Beach House Resort. We took the Hyatt for the size of the rooms and the savings in cost. The place is very nice and clean but is fighting a loosing battle. With a small staff set for time share guests and selling rooms on the internet as a hotel it conflicts with peoples expectations on how this property should be run. We did get our room through Orbits and had it cleaned every day, I did watch the pool area get cleaned every morning at 8: am but it lacked control after the front desk closed. I had called the security on our 6th night for a party of kids and watched him try to manage this problem and our 7th night the kids took the party indoors and held out till 5:45 am, it was a loosing battle and the morning staff had no comment or help. Speaking to one employee, he had commented that they were all having problems with the amount of guests and the small staff. We did not mind the distance from old town because we rented a car and liked the fact we could leave the crazy area at night and head back to a quiet area to rest. You can get all your tickets here for rides and museums and the little bar by the pool is great, friendly, and very helpful. The margarita party is ok but not worth one hour of your time and the orientation breakfast is helpful in getting to know the facility. The units are a little too close to A1A and you can here the traffic from the pool + a great view of the prison if you look to the right side across the Gulf. No real beach to speak of but you can get in the Gulf from the sandy access. Boat rental is on the prop. along with water sports at the Holiday Inn next door. The place is good for first timers to get a feel for the island but we think next time we will look to rent at the Truman Annex it looks beautiful and quiet.
Pool is the best, out side bar open from 10 to 5pm and the view in the back of the property is nice. Rooms are very big and the master bedroom is great. ( 2 bedrooms - two bathrooms and three TVs ) Theme: HotelComparison: about averageDirections: Entry to Key West on your right over the bridge.
