How do I write a review about a tour operator

by silentfaith

Sorry, can't find where to write a review on this site.

You have to create a page on the location you are writing the review about and then have to create a tip where you write your review.

Go to your homepage, click on the "Travel Map" tab, Click "Add a page to your list of travels", add the destination and then write the tip.

Trip reports, reviews and travelogues or albums are all written under location or home pages.

Click on your own name in the right hand column of this forum page.
You will be taken to your own home page.

There you can write what you want, or click on View Larger Map (under the picture of the map) to write a travelogue.

Keep in mind that you have to be logged in as a virtualtourist member in order to be able to write things, or see some of the options that the above responses are talking about. It isn't like some web sites that allow anyone to post anonymous reviews.

Now that you are a VirtualTourist member you should be able to go to the Key West (assuming that is where you want to put your review) by just typing it into the destination search item in the upper right corner.

As you go down the page, you can now see items that say "Add your own Things to Do Tip" or "Add your own Hotel Tip" and so forth. Select the appropriate place you want to put your review ("Things to do" or "Tourist Traps" or "Off the Beaten Path" or "Local Customs" or whatever you think is most appropriate type of review).

While it is good to add an introduction page for the city you have visited, and it will help people find your review, it isn't absolutely necessary for you to create one. It does helps people find your review if you do, however.

Travel Tips for Key West

Key West Info

by MichelleB63

My husband and I venture down to Key West just about once a year. We love to travel, and with so many places in the world to see, we just feel the need to kick back and enjoy the Keys, as so many on this site can probably relate to. We found that a great source of information, besides this website of course, is www.GoKeyWestFlorida.com. There's some wonderful information on there about places to stay, eat, play, etc. It's well written and has all the bases covered for anyone looking to have a ball in Key West! My best memory in Key West is when my husband and I shared our wedding anniversary a few years back. He gave me a conch shell during one of the sunsets at Mallory and it had a lovely necklace in it... I was so moved and happy and couldn't think of a better place to receive such a thoughtful gift!

Duval Street

by sswagner

If you are looking for the "main" road in Key West, you are likely seeking Duval Street. Here, you will find all of the shopping and eateries that you could desire. Within walking distance of this street is also some of the major attractions of the island such as the Hemingway House. You will see a lot of trendy places here. If you like art galleries, you will likely find some type of exhibition here. The architecture is definitely that of South Florida and you should see some of the art deco style and bright colors similar to Miami Beach. Strolling down the street in shorts and a T-shirt with pleasant weather while the rest of the country was beneath an arctic air mass.

Southern Most Marker

by littlesam1

Well here I am, hat on and standing at the southern most point in the continental United States. Well not exactly. Although the marker says this is the southern most point in the continental US its not. Key West is an island so its not part of the continental US. It is part of Florida though which is part of the continental United States so maybe we can let it slide. But if you consider it an island than its not the southern most point. Hawaii is the southern most point. The marker also says that Cuba is only 90 miles away. I read in a book while I was in Key West that Cuba is more like 98 miles away but 90 sounded better for tourism purposes. So who knows?

Anyway its still a great place for a photo and I can tell everyone that I was at the southern most point even though I probably wasn't.

I have seen this marker on quite a few VT pages. From the pictures I thought it was in some big open area on a beach point. It is actually at the end of a very narrow street. And you have to wait in line to take your turn taking a picture. Because everyone wants their picture taken at the "almost " southern most point in the continental United States

Biz Baz (the BIzarre Bazaar)

by grandmaR

This is the morning swap meet on the Key West FM radio (104 FM - Route One Radio) . First you get the morning news - each morning a different segment. Monday is usually the Coast Guard (all the drug traffic they've stopped and illegal aliens intercepted), and other days are the Chamber of Commerce, the Mayor, the school board etc. The rest of the morning is devoted to call in sale ads. It's a hoot and gives you a real idea of the local community outside of the tourist area. The radio and the newspapers this year are discussing the two big problems in Key West.

1) There are too many RVs and not enough parking places so RVers are parking on the street and in shopping center parking lots, thus tying up traffic even more than normal.

2) The free range roosters are crowing in the morning waking everyone up and the chickens make a lot of noise and mess. The city has actually hired a chicken catcher.

Key West Tip

by ronald_ann

The memory I take with me of Key West is the incredible feeling of complete freedom. This is the kind of town where one can get lost and it's feels perfectly fine. In fact it's better that way! There are so many beautiful houses and old shops that it would be a mistake not explore areas other than Duval St.
