Ocean Breeze Inn
in Key West
Ocean Breeze is a Breeze
Well, on my drive into Key West I stopped by a Travel Information location due to my trip being totally spontaneous I had not planned anything. They were able to set me up in Ocean Breeze Inn for $120/night. After looking on their website I could see I got one heck of a deal! The hotel was great...I got the second largest room! Had a full kitchen! The pool is small but who needs a pool...you are on an island!!! The staff was very knowledgable and helpful with everything. The only downfall was on the night I stayed a huge storm rolled through and knocked out power to half the island. The Ocean Breeze Inn was included in the power outage...not their fault. So I ended up sitting in the dark and eating Wendy's (they were one of the few resturaunts with power) in the dark...not what I thought my dining experience would have been in Key West...but if anything it added character to my trip :)
Unique Quality: The old bungalow style rooms with tropical plants and old wooden beam ceilings make it feel like a true island bungalow. Excellent location only 2 blocks from Duval and the Southernmost Point! Convenient Store located right next door in case you forgot anything...but their prices suggest this happens to us tourists alot and they have every intention on taking advantage of that.
Directions: Near Duval and Southernmost Point
Nice, Small, Quiet and Clean
With all the construction and larger hotels around, at first I was a little disappointed to have chosen the Ocean Breeze Inn. But it didn't take long for me to change my tune. There are only 15 rooms in the hotel. Several (maybe 8) surround the pool - which is quite small, but it's there if you want to cool off. And its not party-central, so even if your room is by the pool, there is very little noise.
The bedspreads in the photos on their web site are hideous, so I was happy to find they have replaced them with a nice blue and green stripe.
We had a large poolside room, which included a little kitchen area with a sink, microwave and mini fridge - and a bar w/ 3 or 4 stools w/2 chairs and a small table on the other side.
The TV rotates so you can see it from the beds or kitchen.
The bathroom is small, but there is a larger dressing area outside it - separate from the bedroom. This is where you hang your clothes and keep your suitcase on the stand. This room also includes a large mirror and shelf for prep. There's a smaller mirror in the bathroom, above the sink.
Directions: A couple blocks from the Southernmost Point
LODGING IN GENERAL
NOT EVERYONE WILL AGREE WITH ME BUT I FEEL WHEN YOUR IN KEY WEST YOU SHOULDN'T HAVE TO SPEND A FORTUNE FOR A ROOM TO STAY IN THAT YOU'LL PROBABLY ONLY BE IN DURING YOUR SLEEPING HOURS (IF YOU GET ANY SLEEP).THERE ARE LOT OF GREAT HOTELS IN KEY WEST TO CHOOSE FROM THAT DON'T EMPTY YOUR WALLET.MY WIFE AND I HAVE STAYED AT THE HIBISCUS HOTEL 2 TIMES AND ALSO THE OCEAN BREEZE INN.THEY ARE BOTH CLOSE BUT NOT TOO CLOSE TO DUVAL ST.
Unique Quality: BOTH PLACES ARE VERY CLEAN AND HAVE POOLS TO RELAX BY.ON AVERAGE THEY WERE AROUND $119.00 A NITE.AND FOR SOME REASON THEY DON'T SEEM TO ATTRACT THE YOUNGER CROWD THAT CAN BE VERY LOUD AT NIGHT.THESE ARE JUST TWO HOTELS/MOTELS THAT ARE FOUND ON KEYWEST.COM.IT'S BEST TO DO YOUR HOMEWORK ONLINE AND DECIDE WHAT YOU WANT IN A HOTEL LIKE PRICE,LOCATION,VIEWS AND THE LIKE.
Directions: HIBISCUS HOTEL IS ON SIMONTON AND UNITED ST. AND OCEAN BREEZE INN IS ON SOUTH ST.
Key West, stay cozy
Was a great little place. Very clean, cozy and quiet. If you are looking for a big party place, this isn't it. About a block from the "Southern Most Point" and several blocks from the ocean, a few great little restaraunts and bars, the quiet end of Duvall. There is a cat that lives there at the Inn. It greets everyone who comes in to stay. There is coffee served in the morning by the pool.
This place was perfect for my family and I ..(.2 young children). The pool is small but clean and usally not crowded at all.
I definatly would recommend Ocean Breeze Inn to anyone. Price was fair/moderate for the accomidations.
Unique Quality: Cozy, very clean, and nice manicured grounds.
