Orlando
"First timer"
In 2000, we decided we were going to venture out to the state where I was born. A state that I had not returned to in more than 2 decades. Our first stop, Orlando (Kissimmee). Crummy Crummy hotel, nice rental and a fun day at an amusement park. The first day we went to Universal Studios. Me, my mother and my boyfriend at the time. My mom had to get a wheelchair because she cannot withstand long bouts of walking and/or standing. I thought that sucked because I didn't want to get stuck pushing a wheelchair all day, but it actually turned out to be a major PLUS. We got escorted to the front of the line at every single ride. No waiting. We were there for around 12 hours... it cost damn $40 so we wanted to get our moneys worth. Twister, Earthquake, Jaws and King Kong were all spectacular. But that's about it. I suggest going to Universal's Islands of Adventure (which we did not). The next day my mother had to go to dialysis (for she has kidney disease), and she did not want to go to Disney-MGM Studios. We should have listened to her. So me and the bf get there... shell out $40 (does everything run off that price?). The only interesting rides here were the "Aerosmith Rock-n-Roller Coaster " (totally dark coaster with Aerosmith blasting in your ear), "The Twilight Zone Tower of Terrorâ„¢" (where you sit in this elevator thing and go through a series of Twilight Zone scenerios and then a big door opens and you see a view of the whole park and then you drop 13 stories) and then the "Disney-MGM Studios Backlot Tour". I say unless you have kids, stay away. The next day we were on our way to the coast for the remainder of our trip (which you can read about on my Ormond Beach, Fl page).
