More about Parkway International Hotel
loved the parkway international resort
my family and i just returned from a wonderfully relaxing vacation at the parkway international resort. the resort is small , only three levels, and surrounded by woods, palm trees and calypso music. it has a small nature trail through the woods that can take you to the main strip where you have all the conveniences-supermarket, restaurants, etc. the parkway feels secluded because of the great landscaping and low key atmosphere. the staff were always friendly and helpful especially when we got lost getting to the resort at night. the person at the front desk stayed on the cell phone with me for at least 15-20 minutes directing me all the way to the resort. whenever we needed anything they delivered immediately. the condo was very spacious, clean and comfortable. we were in bldg. d which was near the pool area. it was not noisy by any means. everything was convenient. they have a cafe at the pool that is above average - salads, wraps, etc. there were some children's activities mid week. we all felt very relaxed and enjoyed having a screened in patio where we ate some of our dinners. the condo had a full kitchen and washer/dryer. we all were very pleased. this is not a fancy resort but one that had good taste and was low key. also, very close to seaworld and universal.
Loved Parkway International
We just got back home from a week long stay at Parkway International. We stayed in a 2 bedroom Condo that included a Jacuzzi tub in the master suite and a screened porch. The condo was excellent. The staff stayed out of our way, polite - no high pressure sales tactics for park tickets or properties. Both were offered and we declined and that was it. The kitchen was fully outfitted with clean glass plates and cups, glasses, pots, pans, even a corkscrew for wine. Also had a washer, dryer and dishwasher. All working and very clean. I was a little worried because it was not specifically non-smoking, but that turned out to be a non-issue. No smell at all! The pool area was very nice and shopping, restaurants are close by. We were disappointed with the Italian restaurant -- but the Kobe Steak house was exceptional. There is a Publix at 192 and International drive to get groceries - the little store by the hotel and restaurants was very expensive and limited. Publix was great and open till 11pm. Loved it! I want to go back - now!
Great condo, great price
We just returned from a 4 day stay at Parkway International while at Disney World. I am somewhat a discerning traveler and was a little hesitant after some of the reviews. When we arrived we were told our unit had just been refurbished. It was immaculate and beautiful! It looked nothing like the photos on some websites. There was no sales pitch for timeshare at check in. We had a message on second day that said to stop in for our parking pass and welcome package but we never did. We had a package already in unit that contained paper products, coffee (enough for one pot)dish washing soap, detergent (for one load) and garbage bag. It was a 10 minute ride to Magic Kingdom. Very convenient. Nice pool and spa. Our children are 5 and 7 and they could not have been more pleased with the pool. Our master bedroom had a king size bed and huge bathroom. Kids had their own bedroom, twin beds and separate bathroom. All in all if you are looking to save some extra money by not being right on the Disney grounds, it is great!
A must place to stay!
If there is only one place to stay in Orlando...it is this place. They have everything a family vacation is all about...from several pools..a Kiddy pool, an adult pool with a water side and even a water fall! Not to mention the beautiful grounds with several jacuzzi's scattered throughout. Feel like tennis...they have that too...and what about a play ground and a gameroom for the kids. This resort has it all and the price is quite reasonable...slightly less then $100 per night for a double room. The rooms are modern with all the amenties one would need....and if you don't have what you need the friendly and helpful staff is more then happy to accomodate you.
nice accomodations and location..but.....
the resort/ condo is in great location on the main street in to the Disney area, appx a mile to that and I -4 . for access to Sea world. Univeral, etc; The 2 bedroom was clean and very well stocked . we were four 2 adults 2 kids, great bedroom for adults king w/ jacuzzi bath and seperate shower area, tv armoire, kids room two twins, lil tv and lil boom box, and full bath for them. Full kitchen , didnt cook ,only re heat , micro stove etc washer and dryer. For the small amount of time actually spent at the resort the people very friendly and helpful. Understand this is a time share type place( i chose the non -tour package), was "hit on"we I first checked in, not hard, just said thanx and moved on..I did get a call early the next morning, from another salesperson and offering me the fre breakfast with $$$$, and said thanx , but not interested. To each their own if you want to save some money its your time,,to each their own...pool area wasa nice sized clean lil playground area for younger kids and i guess full servie bar/ restuarant pool side.I would easily RECOMMEND THIS RESORT, was very comfortable, clean and in a great locale, ps off the main drag and quiet....I am somewhat picky as a traveler, but for what i wanted and needed Parkway Resort was perfect for all!!
Some things were nice but definately not a five star!
The pool area of the Parkway is beautiful. We visited during the second week of August and the pool never seemed over-crowded. The tropical setting is wonderful and sitting in the screened porch was nice. I was concerned about smoke because of former reviews but I couldn't smell smoke in our unit at all. Our unit seemed fairly sound-proof which is rare. The resort is 20 years old and could use some updating. Our couch was sinking so badly that we couldn't sit on it. A couple of bathroom floor tiles were cracked and chipped. The grout around the toilets was badly stained. The second bathroom doesn't have a blow dryer so bring one if that's an issue. The fan, bathroom lights, and artificial greenery above the tub were thick with dust. If these issues were taken care of, it would be MUCH nicer. There was no garbage disposal either. The employees at the resort were friendly and helpful with information. Security was very good, helpful, and friendly. I completed a form and DID NOT give permission for housekeeping to enter and exchange towels. They came in and made beds on Wednesday and exchanged towels. Why have a form if they don't pay attention to it? This resort has so much potential.
Parkway a powerful location
Absolutely awesome! Pool, suite, proximity to Disney, who could ask for more? Who wants to be driving down 192 to some other resort? The timeshare pitch was a great deal. Lunch at Celebration City and cash. What's so bad about that?!! We loved the place. If something was broken or not clean, they were right there to make it right. All we had to do was ask. Incredible staff and service. Top of the list to visit again.
Third time not a charm!
This is a nice place for the money. As in 2003 and 2004, we booked on their website for the best rate. When we got to the check-in desk we over heard the guy ahead of us having problems with his reservation. He booked on travelocity and supposedly the reservation never made it to the Parkway.
They had our reservation but said they had made a mistake and had us booked at the Liki Tiki, a sister Island One resort.
They said the Parkway was sold out so we had no choice but to go to the Liki Tiki. The Liki Tiki is nicer and they gave us the Parkway price but it took us an extra 10 minutes to get anywhere.
Both places sell timeshares and yet are listed in AAA...weird. We still don't know what really happened. The Parkway has a better location, the Liki Tiki is an upgrade in quality and amenities.
We will go elsewhere next time...nothing worse than thinking you might not have a place to stay at all!
Very nice accomadations
My family of six stayed at the Parkway over New Years and we had a very nice stay. Very spacious even for two adults and four kids including two teenagers. The heated pool was very nice and it includes a nice pool bar. It made for a very relaxing retreat after a day at the theme parks. I would recommend it and stay again.
Good for the price
We just returned from a 10 day stay in a 2 bedroom unit at the Parkview. It was obvious that it had just been renovated, as all was not quite complete. The unit was clean and spacious...perfect for 2 couples. However, there was no dishwasher detergent, washing machine detergent, coffee packets, coffee filters, or anything else except salt and pepper. The second bathroom mirror was missing, making getting ready in the morning a juggling act to use the master bath mirror. The beds were very hard, so we made a quick trip to Camping World to buy eggcrate foam toppers. After settling in, we enjoyed the stay...the pool area is very nice and the spa was very welcome after a day at the nearby amusement parks. The staff at the Parkview is very nice and did their jobs wonderfully well. They always had smiles on their faces and Krispy Creme donuts and coffee every morning. We were able to go to Disney World easily, but coming home was a nightmare. There is a huge freeway construction project going on at the exit used to reach the Parkview. To come home, you have to go a loooooonnng way out of the way to get back. I would recommend the Parkview to budget minded families who would like to be close to the action. Just don't expect any extras.
