Swimming with Sealions!
We booked a sealion swim down in Key Largo, and it was excellent - worth every dollar! It is, however, a bit of a drive, approx. 4 hours there, and the same back from where we were staying, but it gave us a great opportunity to get out of the Orlando/Kissimmee area, and see the Keys, which were beautiful!
The swim with the sealion, Wono, was brilliant, only my husband and I were in the pool with the sealion. The swim wasn't conducted like one of these group swims, where you're in with others you don't know, so it was personal, and very relaxed. Wono's trainer, Corey, made us feel welcome and relaxed, and gave us a great insight into the life of a sealion! Only drawback was that you're busy all the time in the water with the sealion, so there's no opportunity to take photographs during your swim, unless you get the professional photographer to accompany you, but this costs $60, for a photo CD, which we didn't think was very good value for money! You're free to wander around the complex after the swim, to watch the dolphins, and the sealions, and you're free to take as many pictures as you like. We booked our swim before we left the UK, and we're glad that we did, as the tickets offered by our travel company rep were much much more than we'd paid, and we'd have had to have made the journey by bus, meaning that we wouldn't have had the freedom that we had with our hire car.
Definetly something we'd love to do again, it was money well spent, and was a lovely break away from the theme parks and large touristy areas.
