More about Disney's Pop Century Resort

Loved Pop Century Resort

by TripAdvisor Member glshew

We stayed at the new Pop Century Resort in January 2004. It was great value. It was clean, bright, new. The room was quite small but very nice. The hotel had lots of interesting things for the kids to see and do. There were 3 pools that were themed and the kids loved to try them out. The restaurant was loud and busy. The food wasn't great. But we didn't eat there much anyway. The buses were great getting us to the parks. For one of the cheaper priced Disney Resorts it was very nice. We would stay there again if we had the chance.

I just returned 2 days ago from staying 5 nights at Pop Century. I thought it was a wonderful stay! Everyone that I met was pleasant and knowledgeable about the Disney Area.

My only problem was that I called 2 days before arrival and Disney lost the reservation. Disney did not make me pay the difference and claimed it was their fault. As a result I was not able to get a room near the rest of my family (we had 12 people traveling together, but Pop Century did their best to accomodate.

Great hotel, nice pool, good food and of course, extremely clean.
Definitely worth your money. I do feel it is all in what you want from a hotel. We were hardly in our rooms so this hotel was great for four people to a room-2 adults, 2 kids.

My advice is call to confirm eventhough you have a reservation number reconfirm the confirmation. Thank goodness we did or we may not have had a room.

Just returned from today Florida where myself, my daughter who is 22 and my 10 year old twins stayed at the hotel for 4 days and 3 nights.
It was a wonderful experience. The rooms are not very big but big enough since you really don't spend alot of time there. The pools were wonderful (stayed at the 50's) the employees were very hospitable and the food court was awesome. You always got more food then you could possibly eat. We especially liked the desserts, the ice cream sundaes were the best. We definately will go back there!!

Pop Century is so much fun!

by A TripAdvisor Member

We stayed at Disney's Pop Century Resort a week after opening (Dec.
2003). We had the luxory of staying for two weeks and absolutely loved the hotel!!! The hotel staff is great and went way out of their way to accomodate our needs. The pools (three pools and a kiddie pool) were all incredibly themed and so much fun! The courtyards all had incredible giant sized themed icons that were great for picture taking.
Generation Gap Bridge offers a slight view of fireworks at night! The lakeside walkway was beautiful and so peaceful.

The rooms are quite small for a large family, but fit four adults fine.
The curtains overlap so you get a very dark room at night. Tv's are larger than the other Disney value resorts.

The only complaints we have were the noise levels (courtyards could get loud at night), not enough laundry machines and parking was pretty bad.
We had the 70's section and were never able to park in our designated parking area.

Buses ran on time and we never had trouble with Disney transportation during our stay. The bus stop area is covered and a welcome respite from the Florida sun.

The resort offers a refillable mug program for about $12 and includes a really groovy mug! They even offer frozen cokes, along with soda beverages, with your refillable mugs.

The food court offers plenty to choose from and the food is quite tasty!!! Prices are pretty consistant with Disney (pricey, but huge portions). Definately try the tie-dyed cheesecake! YUMMY.

The gift shop is quite large, as well as the arcade. Check out the lobby area for a bit of nostalgia. The picture boxes are a ton of fun!!!

We would definately stay at this resort again!!!!

Stay in a Disney resort- (its cheaper)

by tamarawolf about Pop Century

Staying in a disney world resort is a must. How better to expreience and get around. When my partner and I go (year after year) - we get around the world also not just Disney world!!!! we stay in Pop century - a value hotel - but far from value- cheap cheerful (best free transport to take you anywhere within disney world), clean more like a 4* hotel in comparison to London's hotels. Also it works out cheaper - odly to stay in a disney resort.

Pop century is quite a big hotel with buildings dotted on a large space of land each bringing you back to a century you wish to stay in (hence the name of the hotel). My partner and I stay in the 70's building as we like the location-although it does not have its own pool, there is one a few metres away in the 60's area. This building allows you to stay close to the main building hall (reception, food, etc) but away from the kids that love the pools etc. great TV selection :)

Well Worth the Price

by A TripAdvisor Member

Pop Century Hotel was well worth the price you pay. The rooms were very clean and the people that worked at the hotel were always very happy to assist you. My mom needed to use a wheelchair for our week stay and Pop Century had a wheelchair available for her the whole week we were there with no charge. The food was very good at the Food Court and the pools were very nice. The buses ran very often and the bus drivers were always very friendly. There was a longer wait in the bus lines sometimes leaving the parks because the Pop Century hotel is so large, but it was well worth it for the price. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Great place to stay!!!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

Just got back yesterday from a 5 day stay at Pop Century. Yes, the rooms are a little small for a family of 4 but I have stayed in smaller. The food is good and reasonably priced for a Disney resort.
They have a nice gift shop that is restocked daily. The pools are huge although it was too cold to swim this week, there were still people using the pool. They have large laundry facilities that are close to the rooms. We stayed at a Disney resort for the convenience of transportation which was WONDERFUL. The longest wait we had was our last night leaving Magic Kingdom we waited for about 15 minutes due to the large volume of people leaving the park. If a large hotel room is what you require then I would suggest a moderate classed resort but if you are only planning to sleep and shower at your room then this is the place to stay. I plan to stay at this resort on EVERY Disney vacation.

Bring your own beer - Pool is GREAT

by A TripAdvisor Member

I sure liked this resort.. just wish I wooda brought more booze. The big swimmin pool in the middle has a bar, but they charge an arm and a leg for a budwiser.. I found some cheaper beer inside at the cafeteria.. 6 pack for $10.00... geez back home I can get a case for that! Kids sure did like swimmin in the pool.. was pretty cool readin all those sayins on the hotel roof! I'd go back again some time..

Lock up all your bags and belongings!

by A TripAdvisor Member

We had a booking that had been made months in advance for a large group of several families. It took almost two hours to check-in, they had not organised rooms for us, as they were not sure if we would arrive or not and that we should have reconfirmed before we arrived! A reservation IS confirmation! We were put in a block well away from the main reception/amenities, even though it had been on the reservation that we be close to the main block.

Cash was taken from a neatly packed bag in one of our rooms while we were out on the first day! There is a very good reason why there are in-room safes at this hotel and everyone should use them! Lock your bags even if you dont have valuables in them in case anyone decides they want to look through your personal belongings.

There were not enough towels in the rooms for both pool and shower.
Reception was always very busy and the some of the food court and bar staff were very rude. The main block is just too far away from half the buildings for the resort to operated efficiently and is very inconvenient for those travelling with young children.

On the plus side, the pool was heated and opened till late, the rooms were clean, and the shuttle services to the theme parks are a bonus, although it does seem like buses were less frequent for this resort than most others. The resort was saved by the fact that we had a great time at the theme parks and only needed a place to sleep. The rooms are very affordable, but not worth as much trouble. They have a lot of problems to iron out

Low Budget,Disney Style

by A TripAdvisor Member

This is Disney's idea of value? The rooms are the smallest I have ever seen,You open the door and hit the bed.No hair dryer in room? I know this is a themed hotel but I stayed in the 80's not the 50's.

This is a children friendly resort but when the baby next store cries and I get to here the mother singing a lulaby.come on.The walls are made of the same stuff as mobile home.value or cheap?

Many people with children take their kids to the pool and sit and have a drink, well you better be staying at a 70's room because thats the only pool area with a bar.If you don't mind $4.50 for a Bud.

Disney again has found a way to squeeze a few bucks from the budget on transportation. They run fewer buses to/from this resort then others. The buses were packed to the yellow line everytime we rode.I stayed at their Coronado Springs a few times and the buses were every ten minutes not 20-30 and there was always a seat.Ofcourse Coronado has numerous bus stops close to the rooms,POP has one in front.

Basicly this place is not very Disney and magical,I recommend if you need a value room look outside of Disney. The Comfort Suites at the main gate east is great but full when I needed to book a room on short notice.
