Caladium Fields
Lake Placid is also known as the Caladium capital of North America. Many nearby fields are dedicated to growing these familiar houseplants. It's kind of odd to look out and see acre after acre of caladiums.

William Campbell loved growing roses and was known as the ROSE MAN of Lake Placid. As a hobby he had over 150 rose bushes and would deliver up to 150 bouquets to various places of business in and around Lake Placid. On weeksends he would deliver his roses to the hospital, nursing homes, and assisted living places.
This was a great place. I personally enjoyed this town, since I paint as well. It is called the city of murals. Buildings all over have beautiful murals painted on them. I am sorry to say I have no pictures, but plan to revisit and take some pictures to put on this page.
