the terrace hotel is located across the street from lake mirror in the lakeland historic district. this historic hotel opened in 1924 and cartered to wealthy northern tourists during the roaring twenties. in 1999 the hotel was given a 10 million dollar make over. today it is the best hotel in polk county. the terrace hotel has all the amenities of a good business class hotel, excellent service, and a historic decor. i recommend this hotel to visitors to downtown lakeland.
Directions: historic district. downtown. just east of munn park.
The Terrace Hotel was built during the 1920's real estate boom. It almost became a victim of the wrecking ball until it was thoroughly restored and renovated and reopened. This is a very nice property that reeks of class and style.
Unique Quality: The Terrace Hotel is right in the heart of downtown Lakeland and a short stroll to many of the historic buildings and attractions, including Munn Park, Lake Mirror and its 1920's neoclassical promenade, and the beautiful Hollis Gardens and Barnett Park. Downtown Lakeland is adorned with many interesting sculptures, and there is a revival of night life in the blocks surrounding Munn Park.
The Terrace Grille is an excellent restaurant within the hotel and offers creative but pricey fare that is worth the price. The banquet facilities are also good and reasonably priced for what you get.
Directions: Located at the corner of E. Main and S. Massachusetts in downtown Lakeland, 1 block east of Munn Park, which is the historic center of Lakeland.
