The light blue water and sugary white sands of Florida’s Gulf Coast have inspired many accolades from writers and beach enthusiasts alike. The most famous stretch of these sparkling gems form the coastline of Pinellas County, a compact yet densely populated peninsula that wraps around the west side of Tampa Bay . Well-known St. Pete Beach and Clearwater Beach are only two of several pearls in the necklace of Pinellas County’s gulfside beach towns, which include additional crowd favorites, like Treasure Island and Madeira Beach, as well as some more subdued residential communities, like Redington Beach and Belleair Beach. Madeira Beach, nicknamed “Mad Beach,”not only draws visitors to its sand, but also boasts John’s Pass Boardwalk, a unique, wharf-like dining and shopping complex stretched along a channel connecting the Gulf of Mexico to Boca Ciega Bay.
