I've stayed here while on Marathon

Nice place with good amenities. I prefer the smaller more intimate motels in the Keys however. Normally we get an RCI trade into places like this, so we don't ever pay the rull "rack rate". Also, during off season you can often find space and maybe even find it at a discount (is there one in Florida?? -- yes... the week before Christmas. That week the Keys are a ghost town). You can also check with the Chamber of Commerce on the various Keys and find last minute openings or cancellations which go for a very reasonable price, but usually you have to wait until just a few days prior to your trip to snap these deals up.

Paradise found in Marathon

Cocoplum is a rare find in the Florida Keys. Comfortable, well maintained and in the middle of everything. The resort has all you need including beach with furniture, pool and large jacuzzi. The units are starting to show their age just a bit but are functional and include everything you need for your vacation. Some very nice restaurants are within a few minutes drive. We enjoy Little Italy north on Route 1 about 15 minutes. The staff is friendly and can help you with any questions. Hope to return next year.

Most enjoyable vacation we have ever had!

We happened to run across Cocoplum Beach & Tennis Resort on the internet. Had no idea how it was going to be. Well, I couldn't ask for anything more. It is so tropical. The employees are very friendly and welcoming. The villas are beautiful. Makes you feel like you are at home. The bed is so comfortable. Usually you have to get used to the hotel beds. Not here.....you have wonderful nights of sleep. The pool is so clean and enjoyable. The ocean view is awesome and relaxing, especially at night on the hammock or adirondack chairs. There is a tropical garden in the middle of the resort. Absolutely beautiful! I couldn't have asked for a better vacation place. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks Cocoplum!

Don't believe the pictures on the website!

My family rented 4 condos at Cocoplum for our family reuinion and we were all dissappointed with what we found when we finally arrived. On the website there are pictures of what looks like a pristine beach. What we found when we got there was anything but! There were huge rotting piles of seaweed taking up half of the tiny beach that filled the air with the most unpleasant smell. The beach was also covered in broken glass. I filled a cup with it in one short walk. Also, most of the beach furniture was old and made of wood with splinters and exposed nails. The pool was small but nice, but the lounge chairs around the pool were very old with chipping paint and nasty strapping. Some had pads that would get wet and smell musty. Also, my condo was filthy! We arrived late on Sat. and the office was closed on Sun. so I had no one to complain to. I finally resorted to getting a bottle of spray cleaner and wiping down all the disgusting smears and splatters all over the walls and doors. Our dishes were also dirty as were the sheets for the sleeper sofa. The units are older and in need of some repair as well. Our spiral stair railing was broken and very dangerous for our small children . After speaking with management they did try to fix it but minutes after they left it broke again. If it weren't for the fact that all of my family had gathered here from far away I wouldn't have stayed the full week.

Can't wait to go back!

This summer we spent a week at Cocoplum and we had a great time!!! We caught the most amazing sunrises and sunsets we had ever seen and the moon at night was just as gorgeous, reflected on the ocean.

Now that we have 2 children, it was great to have laundry facilites and parking right by the villa. The kitchen is totally equipped and everything was very clean. The rooms are spacious and the beds have down comforters and were extremely comfortable...There's a TV with VCR and cable in the living room, which comes in handy with kids too...

My girls spent hours exploring the gardens and swimming in the pool, which is brand new. We all enjoyed swimming till late at night and relaxing on the hammoks on the beach and in the hot tub (it is Florida so be sure to spray on bug repellent as soon as the sun goes down but the views and the breezes make up for the bugs).

The environment is very friendly and family oriented. We made friends with a family from England who happened to find Cocoplum on the internet as well, and we have made plans to meet with them there next year! Can't wait!

SO GREAT AND IT IS IN THE USA....

When we got to COCOPLUM I could not belive my eyes. The famous design of mushroom style bungallows of the seventies right in front of us ( I only had the chance to see it in magazines before). To get to a place like this, so tropical and natural, I had to travel to places like Costa Rica before.
We look to connect with nature and enjoy peaceful and laid back vacation.
We spent a week (my wife, our two doughters with their husbands and our three beautiful grandchildren: seven, five and two years old).
We felt at "home" inmediately. So easy to get organized with all the amenities that the villas provide. Cooking, eating, cleaning, sleeping was so comfortable. We spent all the time by the pool, walking on the beach, driving around the keyes or just plain doing nothing .
One day we went out boating on a rental from a marina a couple of blocks from the hotel. We had a great time.
We were so lucky. We had a clear sky and a full moon every evening. Barbequed near the beach or stayed by the pool and relaxed.
If like us you are looking to spend your vacation without worring, relaxing and sporting a little in the comfort of a delicate rustic beach resort, this is the place to be.
We got a taste of Florida Keys lifestyle at its best, sorry we had to leave!!!

Like the view of a picturesque postcard!

We loved our week at Cocoplum. The view of the beach and the ocean were like looking at a commercial for a perfect vacation getaway. We loved the pool and the beach, we relaxed under the tiki hut and lounged in the hammock under the palm trees. My kids couldn't get enough of the pool and the beautiful clear ocean water. We saw all kinds of wildlife. Large crabs, baby barracuda, flat stingray on the bottom of the ocean, even a medium size nurse shark(not up in the very shallow water of course). We were very happy with the villa, everything was well maintained and the office staff helped with small needed items and great local information for our sightseeing. We can't wait to go back! One of our best days was out snorkeling off the coral reef, thanks Cocoplum for providing a great place to stay for a relaxing, fun vacation.

Sept. in the Keys

by TripAdvisor Member ERDavis

As it turned out the Florida Keys were the safest place to be in Flordia during September's hurricanes. When we arrived at Coco Plum B/T Tueday, Sept 7th, we couldn't have been more pleased.

I'm not in the habit of writing thank you letters to resorts but what follows is what I wrote to the management of the Coco Plum Beach and Tennis Club after our hurricane interrupted vacation in early September:

"Just a short note to thank you for the refund that arrived today of the cost of our week at Coco Plum that was interrupted by Hurricane Ivan. Thank you. We have stayed at Coco Plum B/T previously and we were looking forward to a relaxing week. It wasn't to be.

Wednesday evening things looked favorable for hurricane Ivan to head west rather than north so we were surprised when coming back after a sucba day on Thursday that the mandatory evacuation has been ordered. We appreciate being allowed to spend the night as we needed to make alternate flight arrangements. It made things much more manageable for us. We were out by 6:00am and we made our 9:30am Miami Air Trans flight handily.

We had three great days at your wonderful resort and we are looking forward to our return. Villa 3 is great.....the view just couldn't be more spectacular.
We will be back. Thanks again."

Good management is more than simply having an attractive and enjoyable resort. What's even more surprising is that we hadn't even gotten around to requesting a refund. Wow. Now I know something of Coco Plum B/T's management philosophy and it's one more thing I like about Coco Plum B/T

Cocoplum for families

by A TripAdvisor Member

My family and I recently spent a fun-filled week at the Cocoplum Resort in Marathon. This place is absolutely perfect for families! Ground level has a full sized washer and dryer, first floor has a small but reasonably equipped kitchen and a dining area. The spiral stairs (yes, the railing is a bit rickety) lead to the living area, two bedrooms and two bathrooms. The kitchen level is also surrounded by a screened in porch. A few steps and you are at a quiet, shallow beach and a wonderful swimming pool. Our children are young so the small beach and pool was perfect. Although the resort was sold out, we still had the beach and the pool to ourselves most of the time as this is a great location to explore the rest of the Keys. After wonderful day trips snorkeling, fishing, and kayaking, we were able to put the kids to bed and enjoy a quiet evening on the porch sipping drinks. Yes the resort is showing some age but it is clean and kept in good repair. We will definatley be going back!

Simple Paradise

The beach is absolutely breath taking!! Fish swim around your legs, palm trees line the beach with hammocks hanging between them. My nephews knocked down some coconuts which he was able to open and share with us. It's a dream (or commercial) come true.

The individual house units are surrounded by tropical foliage and all just a few steps away from the beach. The street is only used by residential traffic and no source of noise (our units were second closest to the street). It is very peaceful there at least in October, when we had the beach to almost ourselves and also the medium size pool was not crowded. It is (by car) conveniently located to restaurants and stores and only 1 hour from Key West (2.5 to Miami). The staff was always very helpful and upfront and had everything ready as promised.

The house units are very spacious, well equiped and offer private screened porches. Everything was working and clean and we felt very comfortable there. However, do expect signs of wear and tear like worn off chrome on faucets, worn carpet, some dated appliances. The units were being painted on the outside while we were there and several appliances looked very new, so obviously the place is being maintained but the units could use a renovation. The beds were nice and there were 2 TVs and even a DVD player. Based on some of the other reviews and our own experiences from SC, we were careful not to leave any food on the counter or crumbs on the floor and therefore had no bug issues what so ever.

This is a must stay if you don't expect the most uptodate rooms but are looking for a beautiful beach and lots of space. We will stay there again if we make it back to the Keys...
