The Marco Island Lakeside Inn is a great place to get away and relax. The beach is a short drive away with alot of good restaurants and fun places like Snooks. Seeing the dolphins swimming by was incredible. The apartment was very nice and clean If you aren't lookinf for FLASH this is the place to be.
We had trouble finding the hotel for a start. It's located in the middle of a residential area, and there are no shops, bars etc in the immediate surrounding area. If you want to do anything, you have to drive. Marco Island is purely a residential island and there isn't anything to do. You also have to pay to park near the beaches. We drove to Naples which had some upmarket shops and a nice (free) beach. The Inn itself was OK, the room was very nice and had everything you would need such as a fully equipped kitchen. We were supposed to stay for 3 nights, but because there was nothing to do we only stayed for 2 and headed off to Orlando.
Located by a lake with a lovely pool area. The room decor is so inviting and refreshing and comfortable. The housekeeping is very good as well.
The rates are very reasonable and it is centrally located on Marco Island. They even let me park my jetski trailer in a corner of the parking lot.
Nice restaurant on site (but a bit pricey for my tastes; I look for value!)
I've stayed here at least 3 or 4 times and I plan on coming back as often as possible.

Small, friendly, quiet, and comfortable hotel where to stay some days/weeks enjoying the pleasures and the lifestyle of Marco Island. The staff made the stay great by accomodating any request that I had since the beginning in a friendly and efficient way. I would recommend the hotel for anyone looking for price/quality in Marco.
It was a wonderful stay. Very quiet and peaceful. The room had all the amenities one needs including a full kitchen. The service is great and the employees make the stay even more pleasureable. Definitely very cozy. The beaches are close by...Tigertail beach = 1 mile. South Marco Beach = 2 mile. Restaurants as well are close by. Overall it was a pleasure staying in this hotel. Definitely recommend it.
Beautifully decorated, relaxing lakeside setting, sparkling pool, convenient to everything fun in Marco. It was great to get away from the huge hotels and condos along Collier St. and stay at a smaller resort. We will be back!
This property is conveniently nestled away from the resorts that attract tourists and party-animals yet close enough to the beaches and area attractions. A very quiet Inn that provided all the necessary accommodations in addition to a relaxing, comfortable room with kitchenette. I highly recommend this property if you're looking to get away from the hustle, bustle and hype of typical Florida resorts and island hotels. I know that I'll be back!
We just returned from a long weekend at Lakeside Inn at Marco Island, FL. It was quaint, cozy, and comfortable. The staff was very helpful and accomodating. The best part was the very warm swimming pool, EXCELLENT! We enjoyed the Inn as much or more than the visit to the Island. We will return.
Lovely quiet resort, spotlessly clean, housekeeping fantastic. We had one of the ground floor units overlooking the "beach" and the lake and enjoyed sitting out every morning watching the birds and our favourite ducks patrolling around.
We arrived late evening and our unit had been nicely prepared for our late arrival which was most appreciated. The following morning actual check-in was smooth and painless and the lady on reception was really helpful. We told her we were hoping to photograph some of the wonderful wildlife around and she went out of her way to dig out some information and by the time we got back to our unit she had copied it up and put it on the door!
I can't really fault this place. The air conditioning outlets below our balcony were rather noisy, but without them you don't get aircon so you have to choose the lesser of two evils!
When we go back we will probably stay on the upper floor in order to avoid this.
We didn't use the pool but it looked gorgeous, and was cleaned every day, as was everything else.
I have just written a review on their "sister" resort Siesta Key Bungalows - can't be the same people involved because that is the opposite of Lakeside Inn in every single way!!
If you are quiet person and you love a peaceful environment, this is the place to stay! The beaches are not far, there's a bike & scooter rental shop around the corner and the lakeview is very comforting.
We will be coming back with more people!

I am planning a trip to Marco the last week in June, and someone told me it is the rainy season there. Can anyone comment on how often it rains, and is it usually late afternoon or morning?

June is the start of the rainy season. Worst case scenario, there will be a huge thunderstorm every afternoon. That will be your excuse to go inside to the AC until it clears. Rain will probably be limited to one or two thunderstorms each afternoon.
It will for sure be hot and humid.
You can almost set your watch for the late afternoon thunderstorm - usually around 1600, but then it only lasts an hour or less and the steamy weather is back again.
You will definitely experience some heavy duty and steamy afternoon storms.
Snook Inn down on Old Marco's a pretty good place to sit them out. Betty makes a great margherita
