Java Surf
by jadedmuse
I just love this little place...it's kind of a hole in the wall but it's always packed with beachcombers coming off the waves, looking for their shaved ice.
The ice cofffee drinks are fabulous, and I especially love the frozen spiced iced chai...
Mmmmmmm!!!!! Other goodies including shakes and smoothies also available - and equally delicious.
Located at 110 S. Miramar Ave (Indialantic), but basically it's right off A1A as you turn the corner from 5th Avenue, beachside Indialantic. You won't miss the line of people.
Very "Continental"....
by jadedmuse about Continental Flambe
Whether for lunch or dinner, the Continental Flambe is another favorite dining spot of mine here in Melbourne.
The owner/chef is from Morocco and is married to a French woman. Between the two of them, they've come up with a creative, eclectic menu and wine bar that is not only visually appealing, but culinarily satisfying (did I just make up that word "culinarily"?)
Menu changes from time to time, but expect anything from roast duck to curried chicken.
SkyDiving
by jadedmuse
Skydiving doesn't necessarily come to mind when one thinks of Melbourne Beach - but if you travel a few miles south to Sebastian, you'll find the sport alive and well. The view from 14,000 feet is spectacular - SkyDive Sebastian has a worldwide reputation for excellence and an unparalleled safety record. You'll find people from all over the globe camping out in their tents right next to the hangars, and the sounds of Eric Clapton and other favorite artists wafting out of the main building lend a relaxed feel to an otherwise potentially nerve-wracking sport. My friends and I dove tandem on our lunchbreak one day, during a regular workweek. Can you beat that?
Water-skiing on the Banana River
by jadedmuse
If it's a sunny day, you'll find boats of all kinds along the Banana River...with plenty of waterskiiers testing their skills and cutting wakes all over the place.
Often times, dolphins come into the River and it's not unusual to see them swimming alongside the boats or jumping over wakes.
Can you think of a better way to spend a leisurely Saturday afternoon?!?
spartan's new Melbourne Page

The City of Melbourne is located on east central Florida's Space Coast. Melbourne is about an hour's drive south of the Kennedy Space Center, and 1-1/2 hours due east of Disney World.
The City is in the southern portion of Brevard County. Interstate-95 runs through the county from north-to-south. Access roads from the west include the Beeline Expressway and State Road 192, which runs through Melbourne to the beaches.
Nearby incorporated communities include Palm Bay, West Melbourne, Indialantic, Melbourne Beach, Indian Harbor Beach, and Satellite Beach. Also nearby is Viera, the unincorporated community that hosts Florida Marlins spring training.
While most of Melbourne is located on the Florida mainland, a small portion is located on a barrier island. The Indian River Lagoon separates the mainland from the island. The island is a narrow strip of land that separates the Lagoon from the Atlantic Ocean. (In prehistoric times the Lagoon was connected to the Ocean. Today, the only connection is by way of a handful of inlets, including the manmade Sebastian Inlet at the southern end of Brevard County.)
Spanning the Indian River Lagoon to connect the mainland to the barrier island are a pair of four-lane, high-rise bridges -- the Melbourne Causeway and the Eau Gallie Causeway.
