Leased a building there
by chetwilliamsIII
I will be more than a 'sometime traveller' and might be moving to Miami in fact, since I just leased a building for my business from Metro 1 Properties. The great weather and friendly people made me rethink my decision to only be there part-time. My building is down-town, and I want to find out what the best places to live down there are too... What tips would anyone have for me on finding a home to go with my office space? Metro 1 does both kinds of realty, but I don't know what areas are the best to live in? Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Chet

Rated by experts as one of the best zoos in the world, Miami Metrozoo houses more than 900 wild animals in a 290-acre cage-less environment. Many people who shudder at the thought of exotic animals trapped in small cages will be happy to find some of the world's most endangered wildlife roaming in huge open spaces at the metrozoo. This is the only
zoo in the continental U.S. located in a subtropical climate. Here you'll find more than 260 species of fauna, including flamingos, chinchillas, giraffes, koalas, kangaroos, Komodo dragons, wart hogs, gorillas, chimpanzees, elephants, Himalayan black bears, unusual white tigers, and other exotic creatures.
Miami Metrozoo has won several awards for the successful breeding of rare animal species, due largely to the faithful reproduction of the animals' natural habitats.
Just What Is Art Deco?
by TRimer
The name art deco itself comes from the Exposition Internationale des Arts Decoratifs Industriels et Modernes held in Paris in 1925, which promoted art deco architecture in Europe.
Although art deco looks ultra-modern, it dates back to the days of Egyptian tombs. Specifically, the discovery of King Tut's tomb in the 1920's opened the door to this enticing style. The stark lines, bold colors and zig-zag architectural features were added to objects placed in the tomb to entertain and enlighten the sleeping kings. This style greatly appealed to Americans, who were going through the "roaring 20's" and loved the eclectic look. They saw it as a symbol of decadence and extravagance, qualities their generation embraced. Art, architecture, jewelry and fashion were all heavily influenced by the bold colors and sharp lines of the movement.
How do you spot art deco architecture? Art Deco buildings usually have very little ornamentation and have a very flat, machine-like look. This is due to the fact that Art Deco was influenced by the modern art movements of Cubism, Futurism, and Constructivism.
The 'Canes

Yes, our college football team has a somewhat deservedly bad reputation as a team with an attitude, but, if you're in Miami during football season, come watch our team play. Then maybe you'll understand what Miami football is about. We (the true fans and not the bandwagon folks) love our sports teams in Miami, especially football, and the 'Canes are the local favorites.
